Mother Dearest

The first thing I noticed about Frigga was her warm, comforting presence. It reminded me of when I first met Thor and how easy he was to talk to and how welcoming he was. When we approached, she didn't hesitate in rushing over to Loki and pulling him into a hug. She pulled away and looked him over "I've missed you, my darling, are you well?"

"Yes, mother, I am just fine." She patted his cheek lovingly and turned to look at me.

I didn't know what to do so I dropped to a quick curtsy "It's an honor to meet you, your majesty"

Frigga was quick to pull me out of my curtsy and take my hand "No need for formalities dear, please, just call me Frigga." She kept my hand and pulled me over to a table that was setup in the garden and nodded to a maid that was nearby. The maid quickly began pouring us all cups of tea as we took our seats. "So, you must be Y/N. My son has told me a lot about you" I looked over to Loki who shook his head, indicating that it wasn't him. Frigga laughed "My other son that is. It's not exactly easy talking between the realms otherwise I'm sure Loki would've told me himself. Thor speaks very highly of you my dear."

"That's kind of him. He's always been very brotherly with me, I treasure his friendship." I smiled back at her

"It seems you treasure both of my sons"

Loki's cheeks reddened as he looked over to her "Mother!"

She just laughed and waved him off "Relax, darling, I'm not saying anything that isn't obvious. Y/N, will you join me later for my dress fitting? We can find you a gown for tonight's ball as well."

"I would love that, thank you!"

"Wonderful! I'll have someone escort you from your chambers later." We continued chatting, Frigga was getting caught up on Loki's time with the Avengers and meeting me. A guard came over after awhile and bowed to Frigga, she nodded to him and looked back at us "I must be going, duty calls. Loki, I believe the market is open in town today. You should bring Y/N, I think she'd enjoy it." We all stood and Loki kissed her cheek before she followed the guard out of the garden.

Loki turned to me "What do you think? Shall we check out the market?"

"I'd love that!" I grabbed his arm and walked with him towards town. Walking with Loki in Asgard was very different than walking with him at home. People were constantly murmuring to each other when they saw us and some would give a slight bow when we walked by. I had to keep reminding myself that he was a prince so he was viewed very differently here than he was on Midgard. We went to a few different booths and looked at various items being sold. Loki pulled me towards a small, rundown looking booth with old texts laid out. The merchant gave a big smile when she saw us come over.

She waved us in as we got closer "My prince! It's been awhile since you've come to look at my wares. Please, take a look, I always make sure there's something special here just for you."

Loki laughed "Thank you, Astrid, you know I would've come sooner if I could." Loki looked around and picked out a few, he nodded at her when he was done selecting.

"Wonderful selections, my prince, would you like me to have them sent back to the palace for you?"

"That won't be necessary, I can handle it." Loki paid her and then used his magic to send the books back to his room. "Good day, Astrid, till next time" She bowed at him and waved us off. We kept looking around until something caught my eye. I stepped closer to the booth and picked up a thin black bracelet with tiny emeralds all around it. It was simple, but it reminded me of Loki.

I was just about to put it down and leave when Loki stepped up next to me "What have you found Kaerasta?"

I smiled up at him "I was just looking"

"If you like it, I will gladly purchase it for you."

"No, no. I don't need anything, really, I was just looking at it."

Loki sighed "My love, kindly allow me to spoil you. If you're worried about it costing me something, please remember that I am a prince."

"So dramatic. If you really feel the need to buy me something then I guess I won't punish you for it." This made Loki laugh and he picked up the bracelet and handed it to the merchant to wrap up for me. The merchant handed me the pouch and we started walking back towards the palace. As we were walking, I took the bracelet out of the pouch and put it on my wrist. I beamed up at Loki and kissed his cheek "Thank you, Lo, I love it"

"Lo?" He raised his eyebrow at me

"You're always giving me nicknames so it felt right to give you one as well"

"I see. I'm glad you like your bracelet Kaerasta." he smiled back at me and I took that as acceptance of his new nickname.

Just as Frigga said, someone came to my chambers and escorted me to her drawing room. She was already there with a seamstress and many racks of gorgeous dresses. Frigga already had one picked out for the ball, it was a long golden gown with sheer sleeves and high neckline. When it hit the light, the whole dress basically glowed. It was definitely a dress made for a queen. I took my time going through all of the gowns, it was overwhelming, but finally my eyes landed on one. I pulled it out and brought it over to Frigga who smiled and nodded in agreement. I tried it on and the seamstress made quick measurements before having me take it off. She assured me that it would be finished before I needed to get ready. Frigga hugged me goodbye and my maids from earlier walked me back to my own room to get ready.

The one girl had curled my hair and pulled the front half up, away from my face while the other got to work on my makeup. They told me that I needed to have more formal makeup since it was a ball, I just trusted their word on it. Just then there was a knock on the door and a guard brought in my gown and handed it to the maids. I slipped it on and let them close it for me and help me put my shoes on. The dress was gorgeous. Emerald green with a plunging neckline and cap sleeves. The dress was made out of a velvety material and had gold accents along the neckline. It was tight to my body and then flowed out at my hips all the way to my feet.

I was standing there admiring it when I heard someone clear their throat behind me. I turned to see Loki in a well tailored black suit with gold accents and a green tie. It looked slightly different than suits I was used to, but it was stunning either way. He walked over to me and placed a kiss on my knuckles "You're breathtaking Kaerasta" He put my hand on his arm and walked me into the ballroom. The party was already in full swing as Loki walked me over to the family table. He kissed his mothers cheek before pulling my chair out for me.

After a few songs, the band announced "The royal family will now led us in the first dance" I looked to Loki with panic in my eyes.

He held his hand out to me "I was hoping they wouldn't do this tonight"

"Lo, I don't know how to dance. I'll make a fool out of both of us." He continued leading me towards the dance floor where Odin, Frigga, Thor and Sif were just getting into position. I copied their movements and put my left hand on his right shoulder and held his left hand in my right while he held my waist with his right hand.

"I need you to trust me, darling, can you do that?" I nodded at him and then the music started. I didn't know how, but my feet started moving with the music and my body was following Loki's lead. I looked at him in disbelief, he leaned down to whisper in my ear "I used a little magic to teach you the dance. Your body knows the right moves and it helps that I'm a very strong leader" he gave me a smug smile. I hated to admit it, but he was right. He was a natural leader on the dance floor and moved with such grace and elegance.

The rest of the night continued the same, I danced with Loki most of the night and a couple of times with Thor. It was late when Loki and I started walking back to bed, but the party was still in full swing. We talked and laughed the whole walk back, Loki was so much more open and relaxed here. I stopped him outside of his room before he could continue walking to mine. He looked down at me "Darling? Why are we stopping?" I didn't answer, instead I walked closer to him and slowly wrapped my arms around his neck. I pulled him down for a kiss and when he started to pull away I deepened the kiss, threading my fingers through his hair. He grabbed my waist and pulled me closer to him

When we finally pulled away I stared into his eyes hoping he would get the hint. He reached down to grab the back of my legs and lifted me up while I wrapped my legs around his waist. He started kissing me again while he entered his room, still carrying me and kicked the door closed behind him.
