Chapter 1

Maya's POV

"Maya don't forget you have basketball tonight." Riley said

"I know. This season I have to be the captain." I said

"Are you ready?" Riley asked

"Yea I think so." I said

"Good. I'm gonna be right there at your practice to support you." Riley said

"Thanks Riles." I said

We walked off to class together.

Riley and I walked into the gym. There are two gyms. One for the girls team to practice and one for the boys team to practice. My crush Joshua is on the boys team, and so is Lucas. Farkle is the water boy.

"Well, we are 10 min early. I'm gonna practice." I said

"Ok." Riley said sitting on the bleachers

I started taking some shots. They were all pretty good except my free throws. I can never get them in.

"Hey Maya!" Joshua said

I turned around to see Joshua, Lucas, and Farkle walking into the gym.

"Hey guys." I said

"Practicing?" Farkle asked

"Yeah, I have practice in like 5min." I said

"Cool. We do too." Joshua said

I started to take more free throws. None of them went in.

"Ugh!" I said

"Maya, your elbow isn't in!" Lucas said

"So." I said

"So, your not gonna make any of your shots if your elbow isn't in." Lucas said

"I don't need your help!" I said

"Yeah, you do." Lucas said

"No I don't!" I said

"Lucas come on let's go shoot some hoops." Joshua said

"Fine." Lucas said

"Bye Maya." Joshua waved

"Bye!" I said as they walked into the other gym

"Omg! Joshua soooooo likes you!" Riley squealed

"I hope so." I said

"Oh, your practice is starting now." Riley said looking over to the door

"Wish me luck!" I said and ran into the court

"Luck!" Riley said

Riley and I walked into her apartment and I collapsed on her couch.

"You know for the first practice that was pretty hard." I said

"Yeah, well, he does want to see who will be captain." Riley said tossing me a water bottle

The buzzer: "Joshua, Lucas and Farkle!"

Riley buzzed them up and they came in.

"Hey girls." Lucas said

"Hey." we said

Lucas and Joshua grabbed water bottles then came and sat down in front of the TV.

"How was ur practice, Maya?" Farkle asked

"It was good. It was hard and the couch said she has an announcement to make tomorrow at practice." I said taking a sip of my water

"Ha that's weird, our couch has an announcement to make at practice too." Joshua said

"I wonder what it's about." riley said

We all nodded. I turned on the tv and we all watched Dance Moms for the next three hours. We all fell asleep.
