Chapter 4

Maya's POV

We walked into school and Joshua had his arm around me. I smiled to myself about what happened between Lucas and I earlier. It felt like we had a connection, but maybe I'm just being stupid. Besides, I'm dating Joshua and I like and him.

We stopped at my locker. Joshua stayed right next to me, probably because Lucas and I are locker buddies.

"Maya, after school do you wanna go to the movies?" Joshua asked

I kissed him. I already told Lucas that I would practice him after school.

"Is that a yes?" Joshua smiled

We started walking to class.

"I'm sorry, I can't today." I frowned

"Why not babe?" Joshua asked

"Because Lucas is helping me with basketball after school." I said

Joshua stopped walking and looked at me. I looked back at him and gave him a quick peck on the lips, and he just kept looking at me.

"What?" I asked

He just looked down.

"Is it about Lucas?" I asked

He looked up at me and held my hands.

"Maya, I just got you, I don't want to lose you." Joshua said sadly

I kissed him and he kissed back. It was a passionate kiss. I pulled away.

"You won't lose me." I smiled

He smiled back and he started to walk but I grabbed his arm.

"Josh?" I asked

"Yeah." he smiled

"You have to trust me ok?" I said staring deep into his eyes

"Maya, I trust you, just not Lucas." Joshua said

"Well, trust me to handle myself when it's comes to Lucas." I said as we started to walk again

"Ok." he sighed

"Good." I said

We got to my class and I have him a kiss. He walked off to his class as I sat down. Riley came in and sat down next to me.

"Hey Riles." I said

"Hey Maya." Riley said happily

She turned in her seat so that she was facing towards me. We talked as kids started entering the classroom.

"So, you never go to tell me how you and Josh started dating." Riley said

"Oh yea! Well, he was helping me with my foul shots and he grabbed my arm and helped me to shoot it. It went in and I said wow and then we leaned in and kissed!" I gushed

"OMG! That's so cute!" Riley squealed

"I know! But it was kinda awkward when -"

"Was awkward when what?" Lucas asked waking into the classroom and sitting on the other side of me

I looked at Riley and she got from my look that it was aw awkward because of Lucas.

"Uhhhh.....it was awkward when Maya...uh....ran into her ex boyfriend yesterday!" Riley said making up and excuse

I put my head down on the desk. Is that really the best thing she could think of?

"Really? What boyfriend?" Lucas asked clenching his fists

What the hell?

"Rebel!" Riley said again and covering her mouth

Yes, I dated Rebel for a while. He was great and all but we decided to just stay friends even though Rebel still likes me. But I didn't bump into him yesterday, Riley's just horrible at making up stuff.

"What happened?" Lucas asked

"Nothing, right Riles?" I said looking over to her telling her not to say anything

"Mmhhmm." Riley nodded

I turned back to Lucas smiling, hoping he would forget about what Riley said. He was about to say something when the bell rang. Thank god!
