Chapter 2

Maya's POV

I woke up and went into Riley's kitchen. Everyone was still sleeping so I decided to eat some cereal. I was on my phone and someone came up behind me and scared me. I spit out my cereal.

"Ahhhhhhhh!" I screamed

Then I turned around to see Lucas laughing. Lucas and I are friends, but he gets really annoying and we argue, a lot. Riley and Farkle really want us to get along.

"Lucas! What the hell!" I yelled

"Ugh. You two are fighting already." Farkle said

"He scared me while I was eating my cereal!" I said

"Well I thought it was funny." Lucas smirked

"Riley!" I said

"Lucas leave Maya alone. Maya don't yell at Lucas." Riley said

Riley always has to referee our fights.

"What happened this time?" Joshua asked waking up

"Lucas scared Maya while she was eating her cereal." Riley said

"Dude, why can't you just leave Maya alone?" Joshua asked

Riley looked at me and I looked at her. He's defending me! We smiled at each other.

"Because that's not fun." Lucas laughed messing up my hair

"Riley!" I said

"Lucas." Riley said

"Sorry." Lucas said and we laughed

Riley and I are at the gym. Practice doesn't start for another 15min, but I wanted to practice my free throws.

"Go Maya!" Riley cheered

I shot one. It didn't go in. I sighed and sat on the bleachers and Riley sat next to me.

"I can't make any of them Riles!" I said frustrated

"It's ok. How about you ask Lucas to-"

"No. I am NOT asking him for help." I said

"But Maya he's the captain of the boys basketball team." Riley said

"I know but I'm not asking him for help." I said

Joshua, Lucas, and Farkle walked into the gym. Farkle went with Riley into the boys gym.

I kept shooting but none of them went in.

"Here let me help you." Joshua said

He came up behind me and fixed my arm so that my elbow was fixed. He helped me shoot the ball and it went in. It felt amazing.

"Wow." I said

I looked back up at Joshua who was staring at me. I looked back at home and he started leaning in. I did too. He kissed me and I kissed him back.

"Wow." we both said at the same time

The coach walked into the gym when all of the players got here. He told the boys to stay in our gym for the announcement.

"So, my big is announcement is that two famous basketball players are coming to visit our school." the coach said

Everyone started whispering to each other.

"Alright, alright stop the talking I'm not finished. They have offered to work with two of our players, one girl and one boy. That's why I am partnering one girl and one boy up to help each other out." the coach said

He started to announce the partners, but I was only focusing on Joshua. I heard my name but I didn't hear who I am with.

"Wait, who's my partner?" I asked

"Maya, your lucky you got the captain, Lucas." the coach smiled

"Oh great." I said

Really? Lucas. RU kidding me right now? Ugh! I really don't want to do this. He's way too tuff when it comes to basketball.

He started to walk up to me as we walked into the court.
