"Do you blame yourself?"
"Was it really your fault?"
"It was an accident."

Jim was hearing the voices again, they've been bothering him all day while getting flashbacks to the aftermath of doomsday. The apocalypse involving First Name mainly. Destruction everywhere, being spied on by birds, being hunted and escaping only to return to face it all. If it weren't for Turg he would've been a goner for sure. The second time was an accident, or at least he believed it was. He just wanted to get Turg's amulet back and leave, he didn't intend for Turg to become corrupted and turn against him briefly before then killing his captor. Turg didn't seem to care that it happened anymore, it had been four years since that incident.
Jim was a fairly old attractive white man, he was over 300 years old, but looked like he was younger with grey hair that was receding and a full beard. He wore oval rim glasses, a blue sweater with grey trimming with a light grey collared shirt underneath and grey fuzzy sweatpants that he really liked. He was sitting alone on the roof of his manor watching over his gated community full of people who worshipped him, they were all part of his cult and he was the leader, the Dear Leader. The sun was starting to set behind him as he then started watching the sea, thinking about how on the other side lies that cursed town where he met Turg. Turg made living there more tolerable and he was glad that he was able to provide a better home for Turg. Turg was happy there and so was Jim, most of the time. He had given up his old way of life as it had gotten old, instead he became a simple art salesman, selling paintings done by his cultists. Nothing else to it. He was also the father of triplets, who were turning out fine under his care, though he was more of a co-parent. Despite everything going great for him he still felt like he wanted more out of life. He still wanted to marry his boyfriend, just didn't feel like he was ready and was very busy, but he felt like it was time. Eventually Turg joined him on the roof but Jim didn't hear him coming or sense his presence.
"Hello Jim." Turg said as he sat down next to him. Jim jumped out of surprise as he exclaimed "Oh geez you scared me again!"
Turg was a turg, a species that Jim had no idea existed until he met Turg as a ghost in a vault during an apocalypse. He had white pale skin, long light grey hair, a medium length beard, and a nose that was just above his eyes on his forehead. He had 12 floating dots that got smaller as they trailed off under his eyes, 6 on each side. He was wearing his makeup too, red lipstick and pink blush. Turg was also wearing a red dress that Jim had got for him along with his matching red cape, he liked wearing it a lot, along with his gold eclipse amulet that allowed him to travel to and from the magic realm.
"Turg sorry." Turg apologized as Jim told him "It's okay, I know you don't mean to. Most of the time."
"Jim feeling okay?" Turg then asked Jim as he put his hand on Jim's. Jim wasn't feeling too great at that moment, overwhelmed by several things. He answered with "Not really."
"Jim have bad dream again?" Turg asked Jim again. Jim was having nightmares again, but that wasn't the only thing bothering him. He replied "Yeah, but it was just a dream."
"Turg understand. Jim still recover." Turg said as Jim asked "What about you? You still alright?"
"Turg is happy. Turg loves it here." Turg answered as he shook his other hand around a bit. Jim knew that he only did that when he was happy, so it was a sign that Turg was being honest, not that he ever really lied to Jim.
"I am too, but something just doesn't feel right still." Jim said as Turg waited for him to continue.
"Things have been going well for too long, normally there would be some more bullshit happening. I guess I just got too used to it happening to the point where peace is unusual." Jim explained before adding "But I do like it, this is much better than chaos."
"Turg agree." Turg agreed with Jim. Jim couldn't help but to smile and say to him "You get me, Grim thinks I've gone crazy."
To be fair, Grim knew Jim when he was more of a crazy killer who came up with the strangest yet effective methods of killing people. Turg met Jim way later when he was at one of the lowest points in his life. There was still one more thing Jim wanted to ask Turg that's been on his mind for the longest time, he was ready for it now.
"So, you wanna go for an evening walk on the beach maybe? Get our minds off things?" Jim asked Turg, who replied with "Sure."
The two then stood up together and Turg used his portals to go there because why walk when you can use portals. While walking around near the pier Turg was trying to find treasures, like always, while Jim quickly thought about what he was going to say. He's done it before with Grim, but it was centuries ago. He had a ring, but it wasn't in a fancy box or anything. He got the ring from Turg's father, Jasper. It was gold with a prismatic ring around it, a ring inside a ring, how funny. He took the ring and held it in one hand behind his back as he took a deep breath, he waited long enough to ask this and he couldn't put it off for any longer.
"Uh, Turg?" Jim started as Turg was searching the ground for things. Jim continued "I have to ask you something."
Turg wasn't listening, he was too distracted by trying to find cool rocks or shells to add to his collection. He managed to find a scallop shell that was purple in colour and showed it to Jim while telling him "Look. Purple."
"Yes, very nice, but-" Jim told Turg as he was cut off by Turg saying "Turg like purple. Turg like many colours."
Turg then ran off towards the shoreline as Jim could hear him rambling "Turg can't pick favourite colour. Turg can't decide on many things. Turg likes a lot of things. Things are good."
Jim went over to him and told him again "Yeah, you do. I've always admired your ability to see the good in everything, well, almost everything."
Turg looked at him as Jim quietly added "You even saw good in me."
"Jim is good to Turg. Jim had no reason to be. Turg still happy Jim gave Turg a second chance." Turg told Jim in response. Turg knew what Jim was up to before they met, but he didn't seem to mind the fact that Jim was a notorious serial killer.
"In a way you gave me one too. The world would be a very different place if we didn't meet." Jim said as he started holding Turg's hand with his free one. Jim was right, if they never met then First Name's reign of chaos would've continued for much longer and Jim probably would've surrendered to him. Perhaps they were meant to be. Now was the time.
"Now I've been meaning to ask you this for a long time but y'know, thing's happened and I've just been really busy, I apologize about that." Jim began. Turg tilted his head a little and waited for Jim to continue.
"Before I get to my point I just want to say that it's okay if you don't want to." Jim continued as he knelt down on one knee and let go of Turg's hand while asking "Turg, I love you so much. Wanna get the government involved so we can't leave each other?"
Turg looked back at him confused as Jim then said "I'm kidding, but only about the second part."
He then revealed the ring in his other hand and asked "Will you marry me?"
Turg couldn't contain his excitement, his face lit up with joy and he started flapping his hands around while bouncing a bit. Jim could tell he wanted to say something but was too excited to speak. Jim took that as a 'yes'. Turg lifted Jim back up and started hugging him rather tightly, Jim felt something crack. It was Turg's way of expressing love, which was different from Jim's. Jim's was not so family friendly, but you need to do not so family friendly things in order to make a family. When Turg let go, Jim put the ring on his ring finger on his right hand. Jim could see that Turg was visibly blushing, so was Jim. Jim then said "So I guess we're fiancés now."
