"So, how are you feeling now? Are you in any pain?" Leehoimen asked Jim as he stood over him and Turg. Jim was in pain but it was starting to go away, but he also felt like throwing up.
"Everything hurts." Jim answered. Leehoimen then said "Yeah, for some reason that happens."
"How do you know?" Jim asked, he had several questions for this man but he couldn't ask them yet.
"First-hand experience, and your friend described the incident to me. I then knew what was going on." Leehoimen answered before then saying "Now you must be really confused right now but not to worry."
Leehoimen then stood back a bit and continued saying "First thing's first, I am your many-greats uncle Leehoimen, though at this point I might as well be just your uncle. You never knew your father's brother, I think. Second, you're probably wondering how the hell you ended up here."
Jim nodded and replied "Yes, yes I am."
"It took me years to track you down, you're a difficult man to find, but I finally found you. Knowing this family you likely weren't going to come for some family reunion, rather you'd come thinking you're inheriting property that you can sell or whatever." Leehoimen explained to Jim before adding "Though I kinda expected you to come alone, but I don't mind Turg. He's nice."
Turg smiled upon hearing that.
"So that's why I came all this way? For a family reunion?" Jim asked again, he wasn't very pleased about that.
"Not necessarily, rather I just have been wanting to finally meet you again after spending years trying to take you out of custody of your father." Leehoimen answered before then saying "Speaking of which, you've grown quite a bit since the last time I saw you. You're all grown up now."
"You tried to do WHAT?" Jim asked Leehoimen again. Leehoimen explained "I'll give you a better explanation later but basically I knew you weren't a normal child and I had to make sure you lived past thirty. Clearly you have, you're going to be four-hundred in the next two decades. I tried to steal you as a baby and I tried to adopt you after you were given away, but your father hated me so much he took you back just to keep you away from me."
There were a few seconds of silence before Leehoimen added "Then I couldn't track you anymore and I slept for a very long time by accident. And now we're here."
Jim wasn't sure what to think about that. Leehoimen wanted to adopt Jim but Dick wouldn't let him near Jim for some reason. Dick may have been abusive and crazy, but maybe there was a reason for him keeping Leehoimen away.
"I don't remember any of this happening." Jim said after thinking about it briefly.
"You were a baby when you first met me. Just two months old. I remember you tried to chew on this staff." Leehoimen responded. He then held out his hand and summoned a staff, it was black with a small dark red orb with a bat holding it in place at the top. He then used it to summon four little ghost-like creatures that were light green, oval shaped and had little arms, beady eyes and a mouth. They surrounded Leehoimen as he continued "And you liked these guys and they liked you too."
Turg held out one of his hands to them and one of them laid down on it. Leehoimen introduced them "The one you are holding is Spooks. The others are Ethae, Guardi and Spec. They're my friends from another realm."
"Turg is my fiancé from another realm." Jim said only in his thoughts, instead he ended up remaining silent. The little ghosts started swarming the two, they didn't feel cold to the touch and felt somewhat like rubber. They probably weren't ghosts, but they looked like it with how they were somewhat translucent and floating around.
"Seems like they still like you." Leehoimen then said as Turg mentioned "Turg like them."
"You think you can move around? Because I have something cool I've been waiting to show you since you were born." Leehoimen asked as Jim proceeded to stand back up. Only his head and stomach were hurting still. Before Jim could say anything Leehoimen then told him "Good, meet me at the castle gates on the other side of town. Please don't take forever."
The ghosts then disappeared as Leehoimen turned into a bat and flew into a wall.
"For feck's sake not again." He said in frustration before then flying through the same wall, disappearing. Jim forgot vampires could do that until then. Turg stood back up with Jim and asked him "We go?"
"With that guy?" Jim asked Turg back. He then elaborated "I don't know about you, but I don't trust that man. Especially not after he lured us into this trap, he could be luring us into another."
"Lee didn't mean for that. Lee want to help." Turg answered.
"Yeah well I don't need any help." Jim said as he headed towards the door before also saying "Would love to be back home now but someone has to drive the car back."
"Turg tell truth. Turg thinks we should see." Turg insisted. Jim stopped for a second as he sighed and then replied "Fine, but if it's another trap we are leaving."
The two then headed back out, the doors were not stuck like they were last time Jim tried to open them. The sun had just gone down on the perfectly clear night sky with an unusually warm wind. The two were in the car when Jim realized he had left his phone in the car and there were several unread messages and missed calls. He then remembered to check if he still had the short sword, which he did, it was still in his coat. As he started driving again Turg mentioned "Emilee was worried. Turg told her we okay."
"Was that all you told her?" Jim asked while keeping his eyes on the road. Turg answered "No. Turg told Emilee where we are."
"Of course you did." Jim said before then asking Turg "Turg, why do you have to be a good and honest person?"
"Turg just is." Turg answered. Jim knew that Turg wasn't always honest, he definitely lied to some people to protect others or himself. Though he couldn't stop thinking about that dream he had, if it even was a dream. It was more of a flashback to a time Jim wasn't alive, which Jim thought was weirder. Jim also wondered why they phrased it like he'd been there before, he didn't even know Fecktopia existed until he got that letter. Either way, Jim was very creeped out by that.
"What did Jim see?" Turg then asked Jim after a few moments of silence. Jim asked him "What do you mean?"
"When Jim was sleep. Lee said it was flashback." Turg elaborated on his question.
"I don't think it was a flashback, it was to a time I wasn't alive." Jim answered as Turg asked again "But what Jim see?"
"Not much. I got beheaded. That's about it." Jim answered as he quietly added "Gonna think about it a lot."
Turg looked at Jim with wide eyes before then looking forward and saying "Oh. Turg assumes that is bad."
"Yes, it is. I would rather keep my head attached." Jim responded as Turg shivered. Jim then asked "Was that too much info?"
"No." Turg replied. The two were pretty much silent again as they drove back across the town. After sunset seemed to be the time everyone was getting up and starting the day, or night in this case. Jim had never been to a mostly vampire town before, didn't know they existed. Only vampire he knew before Leehoimen was the guy who turned him into one for a period of time and his daughter, Grimey, married. Though Jim forgot his name a long time ago. Jim used to be a vampire, but he cured it because he didn't like it anymore. He did miss being a merman though.
