It was time for the two to leave, Jim had been there for long enough. It was about an hour before sunrise when they left. Turg was the one driving, despite not yet having a license. Jim didn't care though, he was too tired and distracted to drive. Jim knew he would be back, he wanted that castle and was willing to cause another tragic accident to get rid of a few people to get it. He also couldn't stop thinking about that vision-like dream he had and the fact he didn't outlive his mother. Jim wasn't sure how he felt about that, Janice seemed almost disappointed to see her son still alive at first. He lived most of his life believing that she was dead. Turg didn't seem to be phased by any of it, he probably didn't fully understand what was going on. Jim never really told him about his family, other than the fact that he hated them and they were dead. After an hour into the journey the sun was starting to rise and Turg asked Jim "Jim okay?"
Jim was dozing off up until Turg asked him that. He stopped leaning against the door and replied with a simple "No."
"What is bothering?" Turg asked again. Jim answered with "It was just a lot to take in, that's all."
"Turg understand. Jim talk about it if Jim want to." Turg then told him.
"I'm not too worried about that weird dream because if it becomes a reality Grim can just bring me back. But I went my entire life thinking my mother was dead and after all these years she didn't seem to want to see me." Jim explained in response before adding "She wanted to get rid of me too."
Turg was silent for a few moments before saying "Turg don't know what to say except sorry."
"It's okay, I just appreciate you listening to me." Jim told Turg as he then said "Turg want to help."
"Your presence makes me feel better." Jim responded with a slight smile. Jim then elaborated "I know I say this a lot, but just something about you being present makes me feel a lot better. I don't know what I did to deserve you, Turg."
Turg didn't say anything, he just smiled and continued focusing on driving. Jim managed to fall asleep after that, he rarely slept in vehicles but he was very tired. He didn't wake up until they arrived back home. When Turg woke him the sun was high in the sky already and Jim felt worse than before he fell asleep, though he was able to walk it off.
"You're finally back." Jim heard Emilee say upon entering the living room. She was back on her rocking chair knitting something. Jim looked at her and responded "That I am."
"Was it worth it?" Emilee then asked as Turg entered the room with Jim. Jim, not really wanting to get into what happened, answered with "Well, the place exists, but it's haunted."
"So it was too good to be true." Emilee commented as Turg said "Jim's family was there too."
"Wait, you have living relatives?" Emilee asked Jim as he looked at Turg and told him quietly "We do not speak of what happened there."
Turg did not listen, instead he answered Emilee's question "Jim's uncle and mother."
"I guess your immortality runs in the family." Emilee said as Jim let out a nervous laugh and responded "Yeah, that's totally where it came from."
Jim then changed the subject with "Where are the kids? Usually they're around you."
"Grim took them out." Emilee answered as Jim then asked "What do you mean by 'take them out'?"
"Into town somewhere." Emilee answered again.
"I asked because, y'know, Grim is a Reaper, so that could've meant something different." Jim explained himself before then telling Emilee "Anyways, I better go. Again. Bye."
Jim then grabbed Turg by the arm and led him up to their room. After he closed the door he told Turg "I'm not mad, but please don't speak of what happened there again. That stays between us."
"Are they bad?" Turg asked Jim as he started taking his coat off. Jim replied "I don't trust them. They lured me out there for a reason and it can't be a good one."
Turg didn't say anything else, instead he waited for Jim to continue speaking.
"Part of me wants to go back because I am curious but another part of me knows it's probably best to stay away." Jim continued talking to Turg, who was still listening. Jim thought about it for a moment before finishing with "If they truly just want to make me some sort of king then they have to earn my trust."
He then looked at Turg and told him "Don't immediately trust someone with my last name."
"Turg trust you." Turg said as Jim told him again "I already earned your trust."
"Jim go back?" Turg then asked Jim as he laid down on the bed. Jim thought about it before replying "Maybe, but I would rather go alone. I don't need you getting hurt."
Turg laid down next to him and said "That's okay. Turg don't want to get hurt either."
"We've been through enough near-death experiences." Jim said as Turg decided he would rather lay on Jim, not fully just the top part.
"Am I comfortable?" Jim asked Turg jokingly as he rolled off of Jim and answered rather playfully "No. Jim have bones."
Jim couldn't help but to laugh about what Turg said before then saying "You say that like you don't have any."
Turg didn't say anything else, instead he tried to playfully push Jim but accidentally pushed him to the floor, he overestimated how heavy Jim was. Turg looked down at him on the floor as he continued to laugh.
"Turg so sorry. Turg didn't mean to." Turg apologized as Jim sat up and told him "Don't be."
Jim then grabbed onto Turg, trying to pull him down onto the floor but Turg ended up lifting Jim back onto the bed. Turg was a lot stronger than Jim was.
"Turg thinks he should join Jim if he go back." Turg said, changing the subject back to that topic. Jim thought about it again before telling him "I mean, you can get us there a lot faster now that you know the location, so I guess you can come too."
"Turg go where Jim go." Turg said again as Jim responded "You will literally follow me into danger."
"Turg will do again." Turg told Jim as he responded again "I'm sure you will."
"When we go?" Turg then asked Jim as he laid back down. He replied "Sometime after I get some rest."
