The cocktail is in an hour and I have just finished wearing my make-up. I do not want to wear Allison's outfit but I have nothing else to wear and I'm not mentally ready for Rosette's talks
The dress isn't terrible but I don't want anyone looking at me when I bend down
"Are you done?"
"No"
"Be quicker"
"Leave me alone!"
He's a guy. Guys get ready in literally 2 minutes. I am not a guy, I'm a lady and it takes me at least one hour to get ready.
I finally wear the dress and put on my heels after I styled my hair
After I made sure everything was in order I picked up my little purse and walked out
"Let's go"
After the 25 minutes drive, we reached Rosette's place. He parked the car and I got out. I waited till he got out of the car and hooked my arms with his, it was all for Rosette's rich people friends
"Hey gurl! You look drop dead gorgeous" Kylie exclaimed as she hugged me
"Whoever suggested this dress must really love you" Allison said as she walked towards us
"I won't call this", I said gesturing to my dress, "love"
"Yeah yeah, whatever you say" she laughed
"So, what are we waiting for? Let's go in and have some cocktails!!" Kylie literally screamed
We all walked into the party and I loved the magnificence of the designing. It was elegant yet simple, a quality I can't associate with Rosette.
I walked to the bar where I met a familiar face, Richard Nolan. He was my business partner before he cut the partnership 2 years ago partly because of the low profit he was making at the time
"Hi, can I get a martini?" He said as he sat on the stool next to me
"Coming right up" the bar dude replied
"Richard?"
"Alyssa! It's been so long since I last saw you"
"Yeah"
"Last I saw you physically was when I cut myself off Stylyss"
"I thought you'd be back after Stylyss got international recognition, but I guess your ego wouldn't let you"
"Well, I'd be glad if I can still get a piece of the international cake" he laughed as he rubbed my thigh
He had a little something for me in the past and after I rejected his offers, he cut the partnership. He claimed that the profit was too low for him, so he called it quits.
I stylishly pushed off his hand
"Well, this ‘cake’ is already taken" I said as I held up my left finger to show my diamond wedding ring.
"Who's the lucky man? I think I can get him to look elsewhere"
"Oh really? I'd like to see you try" Leo cut in. He walked to my side, hugged me then he kissed my cheek and forehead.
"Hey Baby Lee" he greeted
"I'm not a baby" I smiled. "Leo, this is Richard Nolan and Richard, this my husband, Jordan Fisher"
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Fisher but don't you think Baby Lee sounds a bit silly"
"I don't think it's any of your business what I call my wife."
"How so?"
"My wife's thigh isn't your business, neither is what we call each other"
"My deepest apologies, Jordan"
"How about you show how deep your apology is by leaving us alone"
"Definitely" he said as he stood up and mouthed a quick bye to me.
Richard has never been one to be intimidated as he is quite intimidating himself, but what can I say? I got a more intimidating man.
"Don't expect me to do that again"
"Wow. I was just about to say thank you but nevermind"
He's such a douche
"Can I get something strong? Anything at all" I said to the bartender.
I wanted to go to meet Kylie but she was busy making out with Scott and Allison was talking to Jennifer.
The bartender gave Leo and I the same drink. "What's the name?" I asked
"Aunt Roberta" he said just before he turned around to attend to someone else
"Speaking of which, where's your mother?"
"Probably at a fancy restaurant somewhere, enjoying the evening"
"Isn't this her party?"
"It is, but it isn't really her kind of scene"
"Then why'd she throw it?"
"It's for the gram, nothing more"
I turned my gaze to the crowd. Everyone's dressed like they're on a red carpet but something's else caught my gaze.
"What are you looking at?"
I was looking at this old couple who seemed to enjoy each other's company.
"The old couple in blue near Allison and Jenny"
"They were very close friends with my grandparents before they died"
"I want to have someone I would still be attached to when I grow old"
"Me too"
And then there was silence...
"Let's toast to the future we hope for but can't have" I suggested
He turned to the bartender and asked for something special.
"Cheers"
"Hailey" he started
He has never called me Hailey
"Yeah?"
"I have a suggestion. How about we try to just get along"
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, there's really nothing we can do about out current situation so, why not make the best of it?"
"Again I ask, what do you mean"
"We both want someone to grow old with, right?" I nodded in reply. "Then let's just try to be friends, like, talk-to-me-about-anything type of friend"
He wants us to be friends?
"This is really weird, but I don't see why not"
"Then let's toast to that" he said
The bartender was most definitely listening to our conversation, because immediately he said the word ‘toast’ he already knew what to do
We had lot of drinks and I can tell they all had high alcoholic content.
It led to drunkenness aaannnddd...
