"Tell me who he is!" Julie whined from across the kitchen

"Tell me who he is!" Julie whined from across the kitchen. She had been begging me to tell her about Peter for almost 15 minutes.

Apparently, I had some sort of "Glow" on my face that told her there was a boy I met.

"I don't know what you want me to say Julie, he's just a friend." I said rolling my eyes.

She huffed and left me alone to walk up to my room. Something about seeing Peter fly towards the basketball hoop today made me miss flying through the city on my webs, so I pulled out the suitcase from under my bed.

My dad made me the suit when we first learned that I had powers. He told me that the red and black colors represented darkness and blood and installed fear into my enemies.

Jolly right.

I was only grateful that it concealed my identity and kept my web shooters comfortably on my wrist. Although I was the one who created the idea of the web shooters and the fluid. I told you, smart mind.

I made sure that Julie was occupied watching TV downstairs before I slipped on my suit and slid out of the balcony.

When I tell you that there is no feeling like swinging through the city.

I mean it.

You just feel so alive and full of energy. It's like you actually matter in the world and can protect yourself and others.

Of course, I didn't use my powers for good before, but I was hoping to change that.

I sat at the top of the empire state building looking down. The view was ALMOST better than the one from the top of the Eiffel tower. ALMOST.

When I got a bit cold from the windy air, I slipped my mask back on and stood on the ledge of the building. I put my arms out and did a trust fall before I felt my stomach drop and the wind whipping through my hair.

At the last moment possible, I shot a web at a nearby building and swung throughout Time Square.

Deep in my soul I had a feeling that something was wrong, and all of my senses were on high alert. Following the rooftops that my brain told me to, I sprang into action when I heard a gunshot. I saw a man with shoulder-length blonde hair running away and tried my best to follow him.

I stopped when I noticed that there was a man shot on the ground and he was bleeding out fast. At a war with myself, I decided that I needed to go against my past and help people, so i dropped down next to the man on the ground and held my hands on his would.

Ben.

The man that I was now trying to save was my best friend's uncle and father figure. I'm not sure how he got into this situation, but none of that mattered now.

I screamed out for help and my heart stopped when I saw Peter running over. He couldn't know it was me, so I had no choice other than to remain silent.

"Uncle Ben! Uncle Ben!" He dropped down to his knees and roughly shoved my hands away.

I backed off and he yelled, "Call an ambulance!"

My heart was pounding in my chest. A taxi was driving by, so I shot a web at it stopping it from going any further. Then, I ran over to the now broken window, "Give me your phone! Now!" I yelled in a panic.

I took the phone from the man and dialed 911 before reading the street number.

Slowly walking back over to Peter and Ben, I could tell that there was no point.

He was already dead.

I wanted nothing more than to pull Peter into a hug as he cried into Ben's still chest, but when I heard sirens getting near, I knew I had to leave.

"I'm sorry." I said to him before swinging away.
