Peter didn't show up to school for the next 4 days. I wanted to text him and tell him that I was there for him if he wanted to talk to anyone, but I know that I wouldn't want people texting me if I were in that situation.
Witnessing firsthand what happened that night inspired me to do good in the city. I wanted to help protect people so that no one had to feel the way that Peter did.
And I was going to start by getting the man who killed Ben.
I spent every day after school researching for police reports of the correct description, and all night searching nearby streets for the criminal.
It was honestly exhausting, but I think that it would be worth it to give Peter a sense of justice.
Walking to my locker with Gwen, I covered my mouth as a loud yawn escaped my lips. The dead silence of the hall ahead alone told me that something was wrong. Stopping, I saw peter holding Flash up against the locker.
"Peter, put him down." I whispered to him as we walked closer. He turned my way for a second and put Flash on the ground before going back to his locker.
Over the past 4 days, I have learned that Flash isn't really a bad guy, and he just puts up a tough demeanor. When he heard that Ben died, he asked me to give Peter his best regards and seemed genuinely guilty of the way he had treated him.
When Peter tried to walk by us, I turned and gave him a hug. He wrapped his arms around me and buried his head in my neck for a moment before he kept walking.

The next day at school Peter sat in his usual spot next to me but kept his hood on and his head down. he was scribbling something in his journal, so I peered over to see what it was and saw a design of a mask that looked similar to mine.
Looking up I noticed that Gwen was also looking at Peter like she was concerned. She met my eyes and we both shook our heads.
When the bell rang, and I started gathering my belongings, Gwen walked over to me, "Hey Cassie, do you want to go down the street with me to grab a coffee?"
Smiling up at her I nodded my head.
"Great! There is this new place I have wanted to try out for a while now."
We started walking out the door, "I haven't had a good coffee since I left Paris!"
On the way to the shop, Gwen and I got to know each other a bit better. When she told me that her father was Captain Stacy I internally cringed, seeing as that is the man who I have been avoiding in the streets at night.
Carelessly leaving webbing across the city, I wasn't surprised when I noticed that more police began to scout the streets. Although, my training back home allowed me to easily escape them and hide in the shadows.
Gwen offered me to come over for dinner tonight, but Julie would want me back home. I told her that we could hangout soon and began my walk home.

That night I was on a lead of the man who could possibly have that star tattoo. I had followed him through much of the city, silently swinging from roof to roof hoping for him to get to a more secluded area.
When he walked into an alleyway, I went to make my move but there was already someone there. I stopped myself and waited for a moment watching what was going on.
The mystery guy swung the man that I was tailing onto the wall and pulled down his left sleeve.
THAT WAS IT.
I tailed this guy all night in the cold weather and this guy in a ski mask and a shitty beanie thinks he can do my job?!
I dropped down and connected a web onto the ski-mask guy before swinging us back onto the rooftop.
Once we were at the top, I got a closer look at him. He was wearing sunglasses and a dark jacket. Wait-that jacket! I would recognize it anywhere!
"Who are you!" I shouted getting angry.
The guy made a move to punch me, and I grabbed his arm before flipping him onto the ground and straddling him.
"What the fuck was that!" he said groaning.
I don't know why, but suddenly I went into mama bear mode, and I was pissed, "Peter Parker if that is you, I am going to beat the shit out of you."
He stopped moving, "Cass?" he whispered.
I reached down and pulled the mask and sunglasses off revealing my best friend.
I sighed, "Oh my god."
Suddenly I was forced onto the ground and Peter was on top of me grabbing my mask. He pulled it off in one swift movement and backed away.
"What. Is. Going. On." he said looking me over.
He started to freak out, "What are you?!"
I looked at him, "What the fuck do you mean WHAT AM I. Apparently, I'm the same thing as you!"
He suddenly looked like he understood everything, "Wait- did you get infected at Oscorp too?"
I had no idea what he was talking about, "No."
Gesturing for my mask back and handing him his sunglasses I said, "Come on, let's go talk."
Once we had our masks on, I stood on the ledge of the building waiting for Peter.
"Are you coming or what?" I asked getting tired, "Just hold onto my waist and don't let go."
He held on and I jumped off of the roof and began swinging us to the empire state building. I heard Peter whooping and laughing and turned to look at him with a smile on my face.
Suddenly, I wasn't nervous about telling him. It felt like it was meant to be. I was no longer alone, and my best friend had similar powers to mine.
Things were about to change, hopefully for the better.
