As soon as I landed on the roof of the Oscorp tower, I was thrown into a wall by the lizard

As soon as I landed on the roof of the Oscorp tower, I was thrown into a wall by the lizard. My bullet wound was bleeding pretty bad, and I wasn't sure how many more hits I could take.

After taking a moment, I got back up to help Peter and started attacking the lizard. I used the webs to my advantage until he grabbed me by the wrists and smashed my shooters before throwing me again.

I was getting sick of this ragdoll treatment.

Now my only defense was hand to hand combat which although I was pretty good at, it doesn't do much when you are punching a giant lizard.

Flipping through the air, I landed on the lizard's back using my arms and legs to try and strangle him. It seemed to work for a while, as Peter was able to get a few hits in, but all went to shit when the lizard grabbed me from his back and threw me into another wall.

Bricks crumbled on top of me, and I struggled to get back up before realizing that I was too weak.

Everything started to spin.

I heard the lizard start to torment peter, "Poor Peter Parker. No mother. No father. No uncle. Once I kill your girlfriend you will be all alone."

In my blurry vision I could see Captain Stacy fire a gun, "He's not alone."

Feeling tired, I closed my eyes to rest for a minute, hearing gunshots and an explosion in the background.

-

"Cass, Cass, come on wake up. You're going to be fine. Come on, you can't leave me too." I felt Peter shaking me.

I slowly opened my eyes, "Peter?"

He smiled and picked me up as my head rested on his chest and I passed out once again.

-

The sound of sirens ringing throughout New York along with the aroma of bacon cooking woke me up.

It took a minute for my vision to clear, and I looked at my surroundings to find that I was laying in my bed.

Remembering what happened last night, I shot straight up, "Peter!"

Did we win the fight?

Was he okay?

What happened after I passed out?

Why wasn't Peter here?

The questions flying through my head suddenly stopped when I winced at the condition of my body. There was a large bandage spread across my stomach, and my head was pounding. There was no doubt that I had a concussion.

Despite feeling like absolute trash, I needed to know what happened, so I stood up to walk downstairs.

I poked my head around the bottom of the stairs to see Julie in the kitchen making breakfast.

The fact that she wasn't a lizard was a good enough sign that we didn't lose.

"Julie? What is going on?" I asked slowly walking up to her.

She jumped slightly turning around, "Oh my god! You scared me," she gave me a hug, "When I saw the news about what was going on in the city, I was so worried about you,"

I nodded letting her continue, "I almost had a heart attack when I saw Peter carrying you through the door, but he told me about the accident,"

Shit.

This was it.

There is no way that Julie would let me stay with Peter if she knew I was one of the masked vigilantes.

She kept rambling, "I can't believe that giant lizard attacked you two! All you were trying to do was leave Oscorp after visiting Gwen."

The nerves in my body eased away after I realized that Peter probably lied to keep our secret, "Yeah, I'm not sure why. Don't worry though, I am alright."

She kissed my head, "Why don't you go back to bed, and I'll bring you breakfast when it's done. You were hurt pretty bad."

I stood up before turning back around, "Julie? Where is Peter?"

"I'm not sure, he left right after he dropped you off."

Frowning, I gave her a small nod and headed back upstairs.

-

Dark, gloomy, rainy.

That's what the captain's funeral was like.

Despite the fact that my injuries were still healing, I felt the need to be there for Gwen and out of respect for her father. He helped us save the city and I would be forever grateful for his sacrifice.

Rain pounded on the umbrella that Gwen was holding as I walked alongside her after the service. Peter was nowhere to be seen. In fact, I hadn't seen him since he dropped me off at home that night.

I couldn't believe that he wouldn't come to make sure that I was alright and support our best friend in a time when she needed us.

Reaching the bottom of the stairs, I turned to hug Gwen, "Call me if you need anything, and I will be there as fast as I can."

She gave me a small smile and a nod before I turned to walk home in the rain.

The water soaked my body as I made my way home, but it didn't bother me. My senses were already going crazy with everything that was going on, but the feeling that someone was watching me shook my bones.

Looking up on top of the church, a small part of me hoped that Peter would be there making sure that I was alright, but there was nothing.

Did I do something wrong?

I needed to find out why he went from being the closest person to me, my boyfriend, to not even showing up for his best friends.
