"Where have you been?"
I had enough.
Peter Parker was nowhere to be seen after our escapades on Oscorp tower that night. It was ridiculous.
I was hurt.
How could he go from begging me not to die to leaving me alone in the time I needed him the most.
I couldn't sleep at night thinking about getting thrown around by the lizard and what could have happened to either one of us. This wasn't a time that we should be apart after everything that we had gone through.
So here I was, standing on the Parker doorstep soaking wet from standing in the rain.
I watched as he showed up behind the 36 written on the door and looked around without meeting my eyes.
"Hi."
You're kidding me right.
Tears brimmed in my eyes, and I tried with every part of my being to hold them in. I grew up being told that emotions were a weakness and I almost felt like I was betraying my parents when I cried.
"I almost died," I whispered, "Captain Stacy died."
He looked down at the ground.
"They had a funeral. Everyone was there, even Flash. Everyone but you."
I could tell that he was guilty, but I wasn't done yet, "How could you just leave me after everything that we have been through?"
My attempt at holding the tears in failed, and Peter reached up to wipe them away, but I grabbed his hand.
He looked away, also starting to cry, "Can't- I can't do this. I'm sorry I can't-"
I cut him off, "What are you saying? Peter, I can't do this without you."
"I can't see you anymore. I can't."
I scoffed, "No. You have a choice. You just don't WANT to be with me."
Peter just stared at me for a minute before I turned and walked down the stairs.
This is bullshit.
He doesn't get to end what we had just like that. I did nothing wrong.
I turned to face him, "It's because I got hurt isn't it. You think that if you leave me, I will be safer?" I scoffed again, "You don't get to make that choice for me Peter, I've been taking care of myself for a long time."
And that was it.
He didn't say anything, and I walked away.
