The people Ekko and I had gathered to form our new found family over these past eight years were loud. Sometimes, so terribly loud I wished we just stuck to the two of us. But when we put our feet on our boards, and hovered in the shadows, watching like firelights, there was no sound at all.

No sound but the clicking of Ekko's stop watch, and the humming of our boards, masked by the steady chatter of the working class below us. He was used to following, watching quietly, and now we followed his particular timing perfectly. When we were in the sky, with the clock ticking, no one needed to say anything to know what to do next.
And once we kicked off, we never stopped moving.

"Five minutes till they're out of there." Ekko began, clicking his stop watch, the group stuck close and scouted the shipment.

"I've never seen this much Shimmer before."

"There's at least 20 tubs just on the deck." I noted, "They're expanding, getting better at mass production."

"Check for more below. Burn it all." Ekko ordered.

Two of the boys quickly went down into the lower deck, and I moved from Ekko to look over the faces of Silco's henchmen. Who'd he send today...

The lower deck trap door shut tight, and I narrowed my eyes, that's weird. Glancing over to Sevika, glaring suspiciously at the door, flexing as she tried to break free, I realized that another had been hiding.

"Prepare to evacuate, now!" I hissed, the boat shook with an explosion and I quickly widened my stance to steady myself.

Grabbing a bottle of oil, I dumped it over the wood cartons and knocked a couple more over as the smoke spread, the hatch opening. You could almost hear her laugh with her footsteps, haunting after her.

She threw two grenades at the two beside Ekko and they fell off the end of the ship, catching themselves on their boards and flying to our exit, Scar distracted her while Ekko and I finished our intended job, soaking the boat and ruining the Shimmer.

With one whistle, Eve lit the flare that would set this boat aflame, but Jinx caught her wrist, knocking off her mask.

I picked Scar up, he woke up with a small start after the kick that almost broke his jaw, and followed me over the side of the ship and into the air. Standing on our boards, I spun a lap around the ship, watching Jinx shoot Eve in the back. Despite her board acting as a small shield, the shot range was too close and the bullet burned right through one of the thinner pieces of the machine.

She dropped. We'd lost her.

I swooped in as Ekko took a charge at Jinx, grabbing him by the waist and flying out the other end, Scar followed close behind and we sped with the other two back into the pipes.

Once we got back to our home base, Ekko threw off his gear and ran to his room. I took a look at Scar's jaw, and the other two claimed they just had a few scratches, going on their way. Scar sat beside me, quiet as I put some ointment on his new bruise.

"Something happened to her, today." He began suddenly, "She was worse than usual."

I blinked, leaning back, "It was because of Eve. She looks a lot like Vi used to, when she was younger. It must have thrown her off."

"We can't keep letting her do this. She's worse than all of them, killing any of us without remorse and never suffering anything in return."

"I'm sorry." My shoulders slumped and I turned to the grass, "If I was strong enough, I would have been able to remove the threat already."
