Joseph POV

"Jade why is our phone bill so high?"

"Close the fucking door jerk." She tells me and I close it behind me, stepping into the red room further. I go next to her side, watching her soak pictures. I hold up the sheet of paper with the increased prices circled in black sharpie.

"Joseph our mother would actually belittle you for being so cheap when you are well taken care of."

"I pay for my own shit jade. With my own money- I have a monthly budget for and you're racking my shit up which means my bills won't be even and if it's not even I feel like I'm going to shit your brains out.."

Jade sets the tongs down and clips the picture up before turning and looking at me. "I don't want you to shit my brains out. I want you to shit your brains out." She pokes me in my chest and I bend back before coming closer. I shrug "I don't want to shit out brains regardless."

"Joseph!" She laughs but it's not funny "Just don't look at it. If It makes you feel better I can pay bills while I stay here." She suggests but I only clench my jaw. If I wanted to charge her I would've down so 2 months ago but she's my older sister and I am slightly scared of her.

"Nope. Doesn't– It doesn't make it feel better, because I know the numbers are still there."

We could stand there and keep arguing but the sounds of repeated knocking snapped us out of our trance.

I walked away to open the door and see Christine. Her hair is tossed to the side with brown streaks mixed into it. "Hey kid." She smiles at me and reaches in for a hug which I happily accepted.

"You said you weren't going to be here so soon. I thought I had time."

I look at them both and laugh "Time for what?" I asked hoping I didn't sound as anxious as I was starting to feel.

Chris looks at jade as if asking for help. I walk past the two of them and turn off the loud tv and sit in my dad's hand me down recliner chair. I brace myself for the worse. I see Chris but no Mina behind her. That was the first bad sign. Chris called here and there but the last time I saw her in person was when she told me they were going to go into some stupid program with different identities. Witness shit or something "Is she dead?"

"God no!" Christine laughs while Jade just smacks her teeth at the same time and says "What? Who?"

"Then why are you here?" It suddenly dawns on me and I point my finger at her "You fucking my sister? Are you the reason my numbers are off?"

"Joseph!" Jade slaps my shoulder but Chris isn't saying anything. She just hands me an envelope. I look down at it then at the two of them. I sigh and place a hand on my forehead. "What the fuck is this?" I ask not wanting to open it myself in fear of whatever it may hold. The possibilities were endless. All too much a burden to bear.

"Joseph for what it's worth none of us ever thought it would end up this way." Christine says to me in the nicest way she could talk to me when she actually meant it.

I narrow my eyes and open the envelope, pulling out the card in it and reading the words on this silly sheet of paper. I stare at it for a second before looking back at them then back at the sheet. I stifle back my laughter but it actually hurts to contain it before I begin laughing continuously. I could feel tears sliding out my eyes yet I couldn't stop laughing. I clenched my stomach and looked up at Christine and jade.

Jade takes a step forth but I hold my hand out and bend over. I nod my head and laugh once more before catching my breath and standing straight.

"That's great, I'm happy for her."
