Third P.O.V

Romina opened her eyes and Chris immediately shuffled her way over. She tried to speak but her mouth was too dry, sticking together as if she had cottonmouth. "Hey there, girly." Chris says as she sits on the bed beside her with a cloth in her hand, wiping Rominas forehead.

"What happened?" She manages to ask, making them both flinch with the amount of hoarseness in her throat. Chris grabs a water jug and brings it to her. "We got you back."

"At what cost?"

"Joseph called Cassandra" Rominas eyes widened at the mention of cassandra, the girl with two last names and a mean attitude.

"The only people that survived are those who Joseph wanted. I didn't know they were getting bombs but he got Jade to take me out. He made sure you didn't take most of the impact– from the explosion. The church was the only building left even remotely in acceptable condition." She takes a pause before continuing

"Your father's people are dead. Darryl tried his hardest to get as many civilians away from the closest areas" Romina sighs and leans back. "The casualties?"

" 3 people died, two women and a teenage boy." She holds up a piece of paper. Containing their names and family's information. They were going to be taken care of and well compensated. Only Romina knew deep down, all that would never compensate for the loss of a loved one.

Romina shakes her head at that. "I never wanted innocents to be hurt at my expense."

"He had to become a monster to catch a monster, it was a sacrifice any of us would make again."

Rominas heart drops at her words. Thoughts racing in her mind. The heart machine begins to beep faster. Chris realizes and gasps "Oh no he's not dead, he's just injured that one."

"Where is he?" Romina begins to sit up and takes the cover off. She looks at the cast on her left leg and looks up in confusion. "Just a few fractures, don't worry I didn't let you get the Arizona treatment." Romina burst out laughing, she clenched her chest at the pain from her lungs.

"You weren't on the plane." Romina and Christine both say together in a silly whiny voice.

They stop laughing and stare at each other. "I've never been more frightened in my life than when he got you." Romina rubs her shoulder "I'm sorry."

Christine gets up and grabs the wheelchair out of the corner. She rolls it towards them and sits in it. Putting her feet on the bed. "I think feeling the type of love that I have for you, and seeing the love that got Joseph to you really puts things into perspective for me."

Romina presses her lips together in a tight smile "You're talking in christine language I'm getting confused."

Chris ignores her and keeps talking "That night before your wedding we said some things to each other. Things I think we both needed to hear, I just think it wasn't the right time. But I think now is it, were not getting any younger and Life is so fucking fragile. You can have it one mintie and the next it's gone you know? We have to take what we want before it's gone.

"Chris, what are you trying to say?"

Chris sighs and stands up getting out of the chair. "What I'm saying is–" She bends to help Romina get in the chair. "We have to go get the love we deserve because it might not always be there."

She sits back and lets Chris push her out into the hall. Not even a few seconds passed before they arrived at what could only be Joseph's door. Chris stopped and came around so they could look at each other.

"I'm going to go tell everyone you're up. One word from you and he will be too so we'll be up in a few." Chris kissed her forehead and gave her hand a soft squeeze. "Love you" She says watching Chris walk away with the biggest smile. Jade was leaning against a wall by the elevator sucking on a sucker and playing candy crush on her phone. They walked off together and her best friend looked happier than ever.

Living her truth.

Romina felt her heart swell with happiness while she sat there nervously. She looks around before snatching Joseph's chart off the door. Looking at it with her hand on the doorknob.

She squirmed in her seat at the pain Joseph must be in. Taking a deep breath Romina rolled into Joseph's room and made her way to the bed, pushing the curtain.

One glance from Joseph and she was brought her out of her sullen thoughts, smiling. She winced at his attempt to sit up straight.

Romina took a sharp inhale and began to speak " Doc said you have two broken ribs and a dislocated shoulder. Don't even get me started on the head injury–"

The first real words spoken between them since she was taken 4 days ago. They were both out for at least 50 hours in a private establishment paid for by Moira and ultimately bed ridden.

"As if enough screws were loose before." Joseph says as a pitiful attempt to make her smile. Only she returns him a sad one and turns her head. He grabs the chart off Rominas leg and looks at it. He uses his free hand and grabs the bottom of her wheelchair, rolling her closer to him. "Did the doc also tell you I'll recover in 2 to 3 months or did you just miss that?" He points to the highlighted part but she doesn't bother reading.

All she can think of is a million thoughts, not enough words to put them into sentences so she began with saying "I never thanked you."

Joseph clenches his jaw before saying "Don't" He begins to speak but she quickly cuts him off. "You never made me feel anything but myself and I like the person I am around you. I can't believe the shit that's happened to you just because I met you. How you haven't managed to run away is beyond me." He's finally had enough and just takes her hand and stops her rambling. He just looks at her. Rubbing his thumb in a circle on the back of Rominas hand. It calms her for whatever might come next.

"Romina I love you in more ways than one. I think I have ever since I passed by that window in that alley one day. The beauty in your music drew me in but it was your presence that made me stay. I knew right then and there I wanted you and if you let me, I would have you." He pauses trying to find the right words to continue. "Despite all that has happened I cherish every single moment because in some way it has led to you. Everything will always lead back to you because you are my everything. I would do everything all over again and again if the outcome remained the same." She closes her jaw and lets a tear roll down her cheek. Romina sits silently because she knew if she tried to speak she would only burst into tears. She wipes her cheek with the back of her hand and placed both on top of his.

"Ask me again. For real" She sniffled looking at him desperately. His eyebrows muzzle together. "Ask me." She says again this time in a low whisper. His eyes widen in realization and he looks down patting his nonexistent pockets and growls. "I don't have it on me and I'm wearing a fucking nightgown."

Romina bursts into laughter and squeezes his hands. "I don't care. Ask me."

Joseph sighs and sits up as straight as he possibly could. "Romina Windsor, will you spend the rest of your life with me."

"And every moment after." She says before leaning over to kiss him.

They pull apart and he looks at her lovingly. There are tears beginning to form in his eyes. "You can't back out now, you're really stuck with me."

Romina chuckles "As long as you don't leave me at the altar." She looks at the door briefly

Joseph places his hand on her chin and turned her face to him. He smiled softly before changing his demeanor to as serious as he could be "I will be chained to the floor."
