"So what happened?" Chris asks me as she reaches to touch my hair. "No, I'll do it!" I say and smile. I fix my hair to rest softly on my shoulders. Most people didn't like wearing their natural hair to formal functions. I however loved it. My hair might not be as beautifully tightly coiled like some but like most I adored my curly hair. My brown roots were starting to grow in fading into my ginger ends. It's just my scalp was sore and the back of my neck. Oh. I remember why the pain's there in the first place. My mind instantly go back to-

"Fire" Chris says and I look up confused at how calmly she said it. I realized she wanted my attention and she got it. "I don't know what game my father's playing at but this doesn't seem like his cup of tea."

"You visited the old bitch and now you're speaking in riddles like him." She looks at the ground and kicks it. "Damn you Lou. You've done it now."

I laugh and apply makeup to my face in the mirror. "Bottom line is, we just gotta talk to Ana and figure out where to go from there." I look over at the clock. It's 4 am but we have to leave at 5 to be at the house for 6. Not to mention Joseph and I got back at like 1 am so I was pretty tired. "You don't look out of it." Chris says walking over and placing a hand on my shoulder. My hand goes to hers. I give it a squeeze and smile. "Thanks." I didn't even say anything, I didn't have too. She just knew me like that, but I also knew her. I hold her hand there. She smiles at me. I smile back. She tries to move her hand to my hair, to push it to the side. I hold her hand there. We smile at each other. She narrows her eyes and I blink at her. Suddenly I let go and she yanks her hand back. "I don't have to see to know that you and Joseph are absolutely disgusting." She whispers swiftly as if we weren't the only two in the room.

"Chris no one can see I made sure."I gesture to the clear front part of my neck. She looks away and folds her arms, shaking her head like a disapproving mother.

Christine lets out a loud sigh before sitting in the chair next to me. "So what's the plan? Once we get there." She asks to change the subject.

"You should make sure everything with the wedding is going on unprovoked. No funny business. I'll find Ana and talk to her one on one before it's time to walk down the aisle with the groomsmen" She sucks her teeth in rebuke as soon as the words leave my mouth.

"Why so late? We might need the extra time in case things go south."

I nod my head in agreement with her "I think you're right but if Ana does have ulterior intentions asking her early might put the whole thing at jeopardy." I looked over at Chris, she looked back at me and slightly nodded her head. "Okay, you handle that situation how you think it's best. Just remember to be careful? We don't know her."

"We never know our clients." I wink and go back to finishing my makeup. Chris stood up to walk to the closet but accidentally knocked my setting powder over as she stood. "Shit Chris!" I immediately bend down to pick it up. I hold it to my heart, my poor baby. I hear a loud and elongated gasp, I realize the cool air hitting the back of my neck from bending down so suddenly. "Dis-gus-ting!" She yells and I sit up straight. I fix my hair back in place and stick my tongue out at her.

"I remember when you were like 'Oh nothing's going to happen.' 'I'm not going to fuck him.' How is that working out?"

"I don't pay you to mind my business."

"Ohh yeah. That reminds me, I need a raise!" She tells me before going to close the door "Wait!" I stopped her. "10/10" I say and she hurls before saying "Huh. I am in fact shocked, intrigued and repulsed all at the same time. " She then shuts the door. Never thought I'd see her back in the closet.
