Park Sunghoon's POV

After the 13-hour flight from the States, I finally arrived back where home is— Korea.

And where my comfort person is. After years of studying, I am finally seeing him again.

It is our break from university so I decided to come back here for a while.

It was kind of surprising to me seeing my parents welcome me as soon as I landed. I'm not going to lie, I missed them a lot.

"Honey!" I spot my mom waving at my direction.

I smiled at her and waved back.

Since I landed early in the morning, I decided to eat breakfast with them. Unfortunately, Minseo is not here to welcome me due to school matters.

We all went home for a while to eat together since my mom said she had prepared food for me.

"So, how was life abroad? Did you already meet someone?" My dad glanced at me, slightly teasing.

"Ey, don't ask him such things! Instead, how are your studies, our future doctor?" My mom giggled excitedly.

Right, they both have high expectations for me. It never vanished. I wouldn't say it's wrong, it's just...scary.

"I'm doing great," I confidently answered. "Life there was actually very different. I already learned to adapt, so you don't have to worry so much." I assured them, eating quietly and forcing a smile once in a while.

"Make sure you are not neglecting—"

My father was cut off by the ringing of my phone.

I fished my phone from my pocket to check who it was.

"My mallows <3" is calling

Shit. What?

My eyes widened for a second. I was hesitating to answer or not, especially in front of my parents.

For years, I have been trying to stop myself from calling or texting him since I didn't want to bother him. I thought he has moved on from me.

But...why is he calling me?

I immediately accepted the call after a few looks from my parents and after contemplating about it.

He suddenly rambled about, I believe, Jungwon. Did he perhaps call the wrong number?

God, I missed his voice.

I excused myself from the table and went inside my room. I just listened to him intently.

Hasn't he realized?

After a few of his pauses because of my silence, I realized how familiar this scenario is.

It reminded me about how I made myself unknown when he confessed to me through the phone.

It would always be a funny memory.

"Let's drink?" He asked on the other line.

And that was the final straw, I can't have him go too drunk. Though he might have done it for the past four years, now that I am back, I have to remind him to not drink too much.

"Don't drink too much, Sunoo-yah." I mindlessly spoke.

My heart was beating too quickly that I immediately ended the call to avoid further interaction.

"Fuck, what was that?" I whispered. holding onto my heart that's already hammering against my chest.

I immediately went out to go down and meet my parents on the table.

"Oh, who was the one on the phone? You look quite troubled earlier." My father said as soon as I sat down.

"Uhm, no one," I quickly answered. "Just a uhm...a friend," I forced the word out my mouth.

Right, a friend.

"Not for long, though." I smiled at the thought, bringing a spoonful of rice in my mouth to stop myself from smiling.
