three | temporarily strangers

"uh hey, the street light turned green already"

said a stranger behind me causing me to slightly jump as i was lost in my thoughts. i hadn't even realized that he was right. the street light was green.

"oh! yes you're right uh thank you !"
i said nervously to the stranger who went from being behind me, to walking in front of me
"anytime" he said as he gave me a quick smile and laugh then proceed to cross the street.

i started panicking, i still didn't know which way was school. i looked down at my shoes for a split second then looked back up to see the boy who had just talked to me. all i could see now was him half way across the street with his hair flowing a bit even though it was tied in a ponytail, and his blue suit looking so neatly ironed with no signs of creases anywhere.

"just do it y/n, it doesn't hurt to ask"
i said to myself in a low quiet voice only for me to hear.
i decided to just take a shot and quickly crossed the street the same way the boy with the suit on did before the light turned red again.
i saw him go the left way but he wasn't too far, i almost catched up to him before yelling out

"WAIT"
"hm?" the boy turned around and raised a brow
"umm.. by any chance...do you happen to know where yokohama high is located?" i said looking at his tie instead of making eye contact.
the only thing i heard after was a stronger laugh. i have to admit i liked his laugh, it made me want to laugh myself but that wouldn't make sense so i just started smiling.

"that's where i'm headed towards right now. uh cmon i can show you the way !" he said with a closed eye smile.
my eyes got brighter and my smile went a little wider. i ran up to him to catch up and started walking next to him.

"thank you so much..uh..i don't know your name sorry"
i said scratching the back of my head
"baji. it's baji, don't be sorry"
"well thank you so much baji you're a lifesaver"
"anytime" he said again with a smile

"i'm guessing that you happen to be new to this school if you asked for directions? right?"
"oh yeah, i actually just moved here to tokyo during the summer with my brother"
"woah really?! that's cool ! i've been here all my life, i know every place like the back of my hand"
i started laughing and he did too
"i like your laugh" he said
my face turned pink and i just looked at the ground to hide my face until it wasn't flustered anymore
"i like your laugh as well baji"
now he was the one looking away with a blushing face

"if i ran into you my by that street light , does that mean you live around there?" you asked him
"yeah i live close to there in some apartments"
"oh me too actually but it's like a few minutes away from where we met"
"hey.. i realized i haven't even asked for your name i'm sorry"
"don't worry about it, i'm y/n  l/n but just call me y/n"
"it's really nice to meet you" he said with a big smile

geez i never expected to become friends with someone this fast. he's already helped me out in a huge way in the span of twenty minutes. i can't wait to tell violet later all about him.

as we made our way to school baji started telling me some stories about tokyo like events that have happened or where it's dangerous and stuff like that.
he also was telling me a little more about himself and how he usually slicks his hair back but he woke up late today and only had time to put it in a ponytail by itself. i kinda wondered what his hair looked like slicked back but i actually liked it the way he had it on right now.

before we knew it we made it to school 10 minutes before class started
we had to pick up our schedule then head to class but i didn't know where to pick it up.
i was about to ask baji as we made it inside the school entrance when he said
"damn it i need to find chifuyu. sorry y/n i gotta go but i'll see you around?"
"oh...yeah i'll see ya" i said with a small smile and closing my eyes.
