Chapter 3

It's been a week since I started at my new school. Ethan is a grade higher than me, so we don't  see each other during class, but we do pass in the halls, and we hang out during our breaks. I made a few friends in my classes, but I mostly hung out with Ethan and his friends. Ethans friends thought I was cool, and I'm pretty sure some of them had a crush on me. They would always flirt with me, but Ethan told them to stop, because he could tell I was uncomfortable when they did it.

I didn't really like going to school because it was easy and boring, but seeing Ethan always made my day. Ethan was super popular, so if he hung out with you, you were very lucky. Ethan and I were also the biggest ship of the school. According to some of my friends and classmates, Ethan basically never talked to girls other than his sister since his breakup a couple of years ago until I came along, so they think he has a crush on me. When they told me, of course I denied it and said that we were only friends. But deep down I kind of wished this rumor was true, because I kind of liked him.

On Friday, he came up to me in between classes and asked if I wanted to come to his house after school. I told him I had to babysit my niece and nephew.

"How old are they"
"they're twins. 3 years old."
"I love kids. Can I come over?"
"Sure."

After school, we took the bus back to my place. When we got there, the house was silent.
"Where is everyone?"
"My dad, stepmom, and Matt are at work, and my sister is at her friend's house.

We made some Tiktoks and hung out for a bit while we waited for the twins to arrive. When my brother Anthony and his girlfriend Marissa arrived, they went over everything we needed to know like emergency numbers and stuff like that.

"Kaelyn, Kaleb say hi to Ethan."
"Is he your booyfrriieenndddd?" Kaelyn asked me.
"No he's not my boooyyfrieeeenndd. We're just friends."
"Kaleb, Kaelyn, mommy and daddy will pick you up in a few hours, okay? So be nice Kenzi and her friend."
"Okay mommy! Bye bye!" The twins said in unison.

After Anthony and Marissa left, Ethan asked the kids what they wanted to do first. They said that they wanted to play hide and seek.

"Okay, you guys go hide first, and me and Mak will count."
We started to count and the twins went to hide. It took us a while to find them. When we did, they started laughing.

"You guys couldn't find us! We win!" said Kaleb. "I guess you guys are just too good." I told them. "We know!" said Kaelyn. Ethan laughed at me.
"I wonder where they get that from?"
I rolled my eyes at him. Kaleb and Kaelynn played together for a bit, then watched a movie. Anthony came to pick them up. At first they didn't want to leave, but with a little bit of convincing and bribing, they happily left.
