Chapter 8

Ethan Pov

Okay so not to be dramatic, but I think that Mak hates me. I don't think I did anything wrong, but with girls, you never know. She hasn't really talked to me much lately and I'm starting to miss her. I have football practice tonight and I'm going to ask her to come. At lunch, I went up to her and her friends.

"Hey Mak."
"What's up?"
"Um, I was wondering if you could come to my practice tonight?"
she hesitated. Did I do something wrong? Why is she acting like this?
"Yeah of course! What time?"
"7-9"
"ok! I'll be there. Can you pick me up?"
"sure".

When I got home from school, I played video games with Karleigh, Treyton and his boyfriend Finnley before I had to leave to pick up Mak. The first few minutes of the drive with her were quiet and awkward.

"Mak,"
"Mhm"
"Are you okay"
"Yeah, what do you mean?"
"I don't know, you've just seemed kinda distant like did I do something wrong? Are you mad at me or something?"
"Oh um" she paused again. I must've done something pretty bad. But what?
"You didn't do anything wrong Ethan, It's just I felt like I was being kinda clingy lately, and I didn't want to annoy you. Can we talk about it later though?"
"Of course"
 

Mackenzie Pov
    For the rest of the drive, Ethan blasted some music. His music taste kinda sucks, but it wasn't a long drive so I put up with it. When we got there, he went to the locker room, while I went up to the bleachers. His practice was boring, and I was on my phone most of the time, occasionally paying attention.

Apparently, this year our school's football team has made a comeback. I don't know what it was like before, but I can definitely say that they are pretty damn good. After the practice, I met Ethan and his friends down in the locker room.

When one of the players Kayden asked me why I wouldn't go in the locker room, I told him that it smelled like wet dog covered in cheese. He gave me a look, but quickly brushed it off as he went inside. People say that girls take a long time to get ready, but damn those boys were in there for what felt like hours. They were probably making out or some shit like that.

Kayden and Ethan were the first two out. Thank God. Some of their fangirls squealed when they walked out. Makes sense seeing as Ethan is the quarterback, but it's so annoying when they try to flirt with him and stuff. You can tell that Ethan doesn't like it, but they still do it anyway because they think they're "quirky". Kayden was the one to break the silence.

   "Lets go"
    "Ok" Ethan and I said together.
    We all left and got something to eat.
