Still Mackenzie Pov
After they left, Ethan asked me if I wanted to watch a movie. I said sure and grabbed some blankets and snacks. We sat on the couch and searched for a movie. We settled on IT because that's a good movie to watch at 9:00 at night. I think Ethan picked it because he knows it will scare the crap out of me.
As we were watching the movie, he noticed that I was getting anxious. A jumpscare was coming up, and when it did I flinched pretty hard. He wrapped his arm around me and pulled me into him. I laid my head on his chest and started to calm down. Being in his arms gave me a feeling that was hard to explain. It's like I felt warm and safe. He started to play with my hair and I eventually fell asleep. A little bit later, I woke up to his phone ringing. Our friend Treyton had called him.
"Hey bro, why haven't you been on?"
"Sorry dude, I'm with Mak," Ethan replied. "She's asleep rn"
"OoOo I think someone has a chance with his crushhh."
"C'mon dude you know how many times she's denied it when her friends told her I like her. Plus she's way out of my league. She's so perfect in literally every way-"
He was going to keep going, but Trey interrupted him. "Look bro, I love you and all, but I'm not going to sit here and listen to you rant about how amazing you think Kenzi is."
I couldn't believe that he actually liked me back. I started to shift around.
"I think she's starting to wake up, so imma go make sure she's ok."
"k bro, bye"
"bye".
"Hey princess."
"hi" My tired voice made him smile.
"What time is it?" I asked him.
"10:40"
I sat up a bit more and took a sip of water. "I'm sorry for falling asleep on you."
"Don't worry about it Mak."
His phone started to ring again. "It's my mom, can you pause the movie for a sec?"
"Sure" I paused the movie.
"Hey mom, what's up?"
"Where are you, it's getting late?"
"I'm still at Mak's"
"You can stay over if you want," I told him. "We have extra clothes, blankets and pillows, and toothbrushes."
Ethan and his mom talked for a while and he eventually hung up. He gave me a friendly nod, indicating that he could stay.
"Soo Ethan,"
"yeah"
"Your 17th birthday is coming up soon."
"Ok and?"
"what do you want"
