"What the hell is wrong with him?" Harley asked raising her eyebrow as she stared at Jimin which was walking away from them. "He looked like he was about to throw up."
"How should I know? I don't know the guy." Jin sighed. His sister always came to him with those type of questions, he wasn't annoyed by it, but contrary to her believes he wasn't a knowing all.
"What do you think so far? About the fates and the princesses?" Harley mocked their group names. "Seriously, the fates? What a bunch of losers."
"A bunch of losers or not, I highly don't give a crap." Jin retorted. He couldn't care less who is who as long as he was left in peace.
"Meh. True. Hopefully we won't have to fight our way out."
"Brat, not everything can be fixed with a fight." Jin scolded his sister.
"What do you suggest then, big brother? Let them walk all over us?"
"No. You sit back, observe, and when the time is right, you hit them where it hurts."
"Dude, I know you have the patience of a freaking saint, but I don't. If push comes to shove, I shall shove."
Jin rubbed the back of his neck. Of course his sister will not listen to reason and do whatever she wanted. He could understand her in a way, after everything she was his blood. Harley was in fact born and named Irene. However, due to the constant bullying during primary school, something changed in her. She started snapping at everyone who dared to cross her. One insult was enough to win a punch straight in the face from her. In high school, Irene decided to change her name into Harley, just like that, out of the blue. Though her attitude towards outsiders changed, how she behaved with her family was still the same. She was still a loving daughter and sister, not to mention a very good scholar.
"Let's grab some coffee and take a walk. I have a feeling tomorrow will be horrendous." Jin shook his head.
Harley had to agree with her brother. "Why is that every school, high school and university has that one, or two groups of terrible people?" She asked as she stirred her coffee.
They were sitting in the campus cafeteria, which thankfully it wasn't that crowded. Jin chose a corner table near the window, it gave him a sense of intimacy and it appeared as secluded.
"Beats me. But we have to be smart this time. Whatever we do, we should not get caught. If our parents find out about what we do, we're literally fucked. For real this time." He ran his hand through his hair. He didn't want them to find out what their kids were up to.
Harley lowered her head and bit her lower lip. "I didn't mean to hit her so hard. You have to believe me." She pleaded with her eyes. She remembered the real reason why she was expelled in the first place.
"I know you didn't mean it. Harley, you can't beat people into a coma, no matter what they do." Jin kept his voice soft. He knew, if he yelled at her she would close herself in. it was just one of her coping mechanisms.
Harley's eyes got darker, her face flushed with anger. She slammed her hand on the table so hard that the people closer to them flinched. "If I didn't do that, that girl would have died."
The real reason she was expelled was because she beat a classmate so hard that it sent the poor girl into a coma. Harley lost her marbles when the said girl and her posse tried to convince another classmate to take her own life. Harley couldn't take it. It reminded her of all the abuse she got. She couldn't handle if the girl actually killed herself and she did nothing to help her. A part of her would have died too.
"Its ok." Jin patted her hand. "Grandpa took care if it."
"I'm not sorry for what I have done. That bitch deserved it. Well, not coma, but a good beating that is."
"Have you talked to Jihee?"
Harley took a deep breath. "We've talked yesterday. She is still in therapy. I told her to call me whenever she feels suicidal." A tear escaped her eyes and wiped it fast. "That bitch almost made it. I can't imagine a world without Jihee in it."
Jin linked his hand with his sister and smiled. Before the incident, Harley didn't consider anyone a friend. She pushed away every person that tried to get close to her, except her brother. Her twin brother was her soulmate. Even though Harley in her own way fought for the weak classmates that couldn't protect themselves, she didn't build a relationship with them. Only Jihee.
Jihee was a sweet innocent girl that saw the world through a pink glass. She had a bubbly personality and she was very friendly. She never thought a person could be evil enough to push someone to the brink of death, until she was subject to bullying herself. Harley was in the bathroom when that group caught Jihee alone and started calling her names, giving her a blade to cut her wrists. Harley couldn't stand it anymore and barged outside kicking and punching everyone who came across.
When finally she grabbed a hold of their leader, Harley repeatedly hit her head to the floor until the girl went unconscious. Her only thought was to protect Jihee. After the police came and arrested her, their grandfather made sure she got out unpunished. Of course the fact that the bullies had everything filmed helped a lot, and it could have been used in court as evidence if it came to that.
Fortunately for her, her grandfather wasn't a person that one could mess with. Even in his old age, he was quite the strong man he was in his prime. Her parents thought it was just some normal beating between girls, thanks to her grandfather hiding everything, making sure nobody could learn the truth.
Since then Jihee became what Jin would say, Harley's best friend, though his sister would deny they were that close. Harley would say Jihee was just someone she had to protect at all costs. She saw herself in her friend. Nobody helped her in school, Jin wasn't too brave either, plus he didn't know what was going on with his sister. When they entered high school, their bond grew and both transformed themselves into what they were today. No one knew what it took of them to become what some would say, monsters.
"Let's rule the university. Let's become the king and queen of Bangtan university. What do you say?"
Jin tapped his chin with his fingers and nodded. "Let's do it." He ultimately agreed.
"Good." She grinned. "The Kim twins in action."
They finished their drinks and each walked in their respective rooms. Harley was surprised to see her roommate. She looked small and soft with her chubby cheeks and red hair. She was sitting in the middle of her bed, chewing her nails and a book on her legs. The girl seemed lost in her thoughts. She jumped startled when Harley closed the door behind her with a loud thud.
"Oh." The girl placed her hand on her chest. She pushed the book aside and got to her feet. "You must be my new roommate. I'm Sohee." The girl extended her hand.
Harley looked at the girl's hand and raised her eyebrow. "What?"
"Sorry." Sohee hid her hand behind her back and fake smiled. "Ummm, what's your name?"
"Harley." She turned around and started unpacking her things.
"Like Harley Quinn." Sohee clapped her hands. "That's so badass."
Harley shrugged. "If you say so."
"You're not much of a talker, are you?" Sohee asked with a pout.
"No. And I would appreciate if you'd forget I'm here." Sohee reminded Harley of Jihee. She didn't want to have another person her brother might end up calling her friend. She didn't want another person to depend on her.
"Oh." Sohee turned back to where she initially stood on her bed. She kept quiet as she watched Harley putting her headphones in and started arranging her side of the room.
Sohee couldn't understand her roommate. She seemed nice but rough around the edges. She didn't want to intrude in the new girl's life right in the first day. Perhaps soon they would get a chance to bond.
