Three months passed, and Andrés had memorized every single detail of each room in the museum. He had become quite good at his job as a janitor, which allowed him to get away with a lot. However, one month before the exhibition was set to arrive, the plan almost fell apart.
While mopping the floor one day, Andrés noticed two men enter the museum. When he made eye contact with one of them, he immediately recognized his father. To his relief, his father didn't seem to recognize him. Andrés watched as his father's brow furrowed in confusion, but he quickly turned his head to avoid further contact. Curiosity piqued, he lifted his head slightly to track where his father was headed.
Following discreetly behind, he trailed his father and the other man to the contemporary art galleries. The two men settled on a bench, and Andrés took his time mopping the floor nearby. He watched as his father handed a paper bag to the other man, leaning in to speak to him in low tones. Andrés strained to hear their conversation but knew he had to be cautious about drawing attention to himself.
Then, an idea struck him. As he continued mopping by the bench, he purposely dropped the mop. Bending down to pick it up, he discreetly placed his Walkman underneath the bench. Once he stood up, he glanced at the two men, nodded, and resumed mopping the rest of the gallery.
Two hours later, after his father and his partner left the room, Andrés waited until they were out of sight. Then he quickly grabbed the Walkman and exited the museum, heart racing with anticipation of what he might have recorded.

As Andrés walked home, he listened intently to the conversation he had recorded. He put on his headphones and pressed play. At first, the audio was faint, but after a couple of seconds, the voices became clear.
"We'll enter through the main entrance as if we're going to see the exhibition, and then Fernando will take care of the security system."
"How will he do that?"
"He'll be disguised as a guard."
"And then?"
"Once we're inside, Enrique and I will go 'visit' the exhibition. While we do that, the power will be 'accidentally' shut off, creating a distraction for everyone. Alejandro will join us, and we'll steal everything we need. Voila! We'll get out without being seen. You'll meet us at the back of the museum where the jewelry will be arriving; we'll steal the truck and leave."
"Are you sure everything is in order?"
"Yes, everything is completely in order. We just need to adjust a couple of things, but everything is fine."
"Alright, I'll see you in a month then."
The recording stopped, and Andrés's heart raced as he realized the enormity of what he had just overheard.
One month later, the big day had finally arrived. That morning, Andrés arrived at the museum before sunrise, determined to ensure everything was in place before his father arrived. The museum was dark and empty as he walked through the halls, but a strange and satisfying calm washed over him. He admired each artifact without the pressure of blocking visitors' paths or feeling rushed to move on.
