Antonio's Ceremony

Elena joined her parents and siblings behind the flower curtain, her cousin Isabel made, worry etched on her face as she saw no Antonio in sight. Looking at her brother he shrugged and then her sister who pointed at the stairs as Mirabel and her younger brother walked down .

Upon seeing his younger older sister Antonio ran and hugged her putting a smile on her face as she knelt down and hugged him back. Seeing his nerves Elena waved her hand and held it out as a necklace of ice formed onto it.

"Antonio wear this so that I will always be with you ok" she said taking the ice necklace that held a ice paw print attached to it and placed it around his neck. She kissed his cheek and said "you'll do fine Tonio, you know I bet you'll get a gift even better than Camilo's lame one" this got a giggle out of the boy and a offended gasp from her twin as she stood up.

"Oh how dare call my gift lame it is awesome thank you very much" Camilo pored and crossed his arms at his sister, who rolled her eyes and moved out the way for her parents and siblings to talk to Antonio.

A cloud began forming over her mother's head as she hugged her youngest son "look at you all grown up" she said sadness in her voice for her youngest growing up.

Felix pulled their mother away from the boy "Pepa amor your going to get him all wet" he said clearing her cloud of rain away. Whilst Camilo turned into a shorter version of their father and took a hold of Antonio's face in his hands.

"Your going to make your papa proud" he imitated causing Felix to scowl at his son and tell him "i don't sound like that" Elena rolled her eyes at both males when her twin placed his hands on his hips and mimicked his father again "I don't sound like that" though the annoyance washed away when Dolores interrupted the father and son.

"Abuela says... it's time" the older girl said and smiled at her younger brother. They all began to leave through the flower curtain after pepa had said "we'll be waiting for you at your door" though the only one the stayed was Camilo still looking like their father.

"Okay okay vamos, vamos" their father usher at everyone to leave so that the ceremony can start. The older boy canopying his fathers hand gestures said "okay, okay vamos, vamos" though being grabbed by the ear by his twin sister dragging him away "alright I'm done" he exclaimed turning back into himself earning a laugh from the little boy.

She turned her head back to send a smile Antonio's way before she continued to pull Camilo by his ear towards the rest of their family by the front of the stairs. Releasing his ear she smoothed out her dress and looked up towards her Abuela whilst ignoring Camilo's groans of pain.

"50 years ago, in our darkest time, this candle blessed us with a miracle. And the greatest honour of our family has been to serve this community" she told everyone holding the candle in her hand like at every gift ceremony. "Tonight, we come together after ten years to welcome another into the light and make the family proud" after she said that everyone turned towards the flower curtain that opened whilst the floor created a pathway to the stairs. Antonio stood their frozen to his spot as he looked at everyone and ignored the Casita trying to nudge him forward.

Concern filled Elena's eyes as she saw her brother though quickly turned to confusion when he held out a hand to someone behind the wall and said something to them. When Mirabel stepped out and took the five year olds hand Elena furrowed her eyebrows in confusion not know what was happening. Gasps and murmurs broke out as the two walked down the red stone pathway but Elena could see that her brother was happy having their cousin with him and sent a warm smile of engorgement to them though she looked at Mirabel in worry knowing she could be thinking of her own ceremony.

Her hand clutched to Camilo's hand tightly with him doing the same as they saw Antonio touch the candle "will you use your gift to honour the miracle? to serve this community? And strengthen Our family?" Abuela asked the boy in return he nods his head yes to her.
