A salty wind blew across London Harbor. The banter of sailors and bastards filled the air. Several mighty ships rest by the docks, showcasing their power. The captains that mastered these boats holler, calling their passengers on board. To board mighty ships to the new world, a strange land across the Atlantic. Many seek opportunities it has to offer from: regular families, ruffians, nobles and academics.
One such academic was William Anderson, a powerful and respected man. A biologist and naturalist respected greatly, strange lands and beasts are a sure allure. Though he won't be alone, accompanying him are his family. His wife Elizabeth Anderson joined him. Like her husbands she was a respected member, though she was an artist of fabric. Her designs appeared everywhere men were, from Paris in France to New York of the new world colonies.
Along with them were their children, two girls and one boy. Edward was the oldest and the only son, becoming a new spitting image of William. His short yet clean brown hair and his boisterous yet curious nature. If William were to die, Edward would take his father's shoes.
Mariam was the second child, reserved and quiet. While Edward was encouraged to be himself, she was not. Like a woman of her time, educated to be small. To dam a vicious river. Yet part of her longs for a day, where the dam will fall. Though that day may never come.
Last of the children was Rachael, youngest of the trio. Most disliked by her parents. If Mariam was a dammed river, she was a tropical storm. No matter how much they tried, she tore down their shelters. However she is vulnerable, for such a storm it needs power. Her parents hurt and belittled her, to stop the storm.
Boarding the mighty ship, Mariam froze for a moment. Looking behind her to the busy London city. The moment she takes a step on the ship, her ties to London will be cut. Calmly she breathes in, looking far far ahead. Crashing waves in her ears and head.
She took the step.
In time as well, as the captain hollered. The boarding ramp was kicked down, falling into the ocean void. Mighty sails dropping to catch wind, pushing the wooden titan forward. Feeling the moving motions, strange feelings came upon her. A slight crack in the dam appeared. Urgently she rushed to the stern, gazing towards the fading city. Shrinking infront of her eyes, while the curtains of fog conceals. In an instant London was gone forever, it was no longer home. Frozen and shocked, blankly staring at the sea.
Hours have passed, the sun slowly setting. Preparing to give it's scepter to it's queen moon. Mariam fought against the temptation to be frozen, she needed to find Rachael She heads below-deck, long halls stretch for miles. Doors dotting the sides perfectly.
Her ears fine-tuned to music and speech from her sibling. Her left ear vibrated from the slight sound of giggling. Mariam heads left towards the ship's kitchen, a yellow light in dark wooden tunnels. Mariam strolls into the kitchen seeing Rachael covered in flour, their yellow dress dusty while her hair is white. Softly Mariam gives a gentle smile while rolling her eyes.
"Haha, what a mess you've made." Mariam joked while wiping off the flour of Rachael's hair.
"Oh the strange bagged snow? Didn't taste like snow." Rachael blechs jokingly.
"Hmm, you're in the kitchen for a reason right?" Mariam inquired.
"Mhmm! I wanted a cookie, but it's too tall!" Rachael says while jumping up and down facing the cookies.
"Alrighty Rar-rar, I'll get it for you." Mariam stands on her tip toes and gets the cookie jar.
Rachael joyously opens the jar and digs in, grabbing several cookies and stuffing it in their mouth. Mariam giggles while grabbing a cookie for herself and biting down on it. Delicious melted chocolate seeps into her mouth, gifting euphoria upon her taste buds. A feeling came over Mariam looking at Rachael, their adorable little face and joyful demeanor comforted Mariam. Without thinking Mariam gives Rachael a tight hug, laughing and playfully fighting away.
