Living in hiding was incredibly boring Niki would come to find out. Not only did she have to stay in some random village in the middle of nowhere she couldn't even see her friends, if she had any after the stunt they pulled getting Dream out of prison.
Every once and a while Techno or Phil would come and visit, being the only people to know where she was. She enjoyed there visits but they were always short lived before they had to leave again.
She found ways to entertain herself whether it was baking or just about anything to pass the time.
Today was no different, waking up early to make some breakfast before receiving a knock at her door. "Techno!" Niki cheered, letting him enter the small house.
They sat on the couch as Techno caught up with the girl, making sure she was alright in the village.
Niki enjoyed the comfort the visits brought her, perhaps too comforting in the way that she could feel her headspace clawing at her brain almost as soon as they'd leave. She didn't bother pushing it away, feeling old enough to maintain a conversation normally until Technoblade got up to leave.
Techno headed towards the door, saying goodbye as Niki stopped him "you leavin?" She pouted, looking down towards her feet.
The hybrid nodded, "I have to go back now" he explained, hand still on the door.
"Come with?" Niki asked with the biggest puppy eyes she could muster.
"You know you can't," Techno sighed, slowly realizing the younger had slipped.
Her eyes watered at the thought of being left on her own again, "p'ease, I'll be good" Niki begged.
It broke Techno's heart to see the little so upset, eventually caving "come on kiddo, we can convince Phil later" he said holding his hand out for her. Happy giggles filled the air as Niki raced to Techno's side.
They slowly made their way back to Techno's house, having to use the overworld entirely so Niki couldn't be traced back to the village if she had to return.
About halfway through Niki began to slow down, "is sooo far" Niki huffed
"I know Princess, it's just a little bit farther" he said, Niki whining as she continued to drag her feet, "what if I carry you?" Techno offered. Niki nodded eagerly as she was picked up, returning on their path home.
Eventually they reached the frozen tundra, walking up the steps into Techno's house. Niki attempted to take off her snow covered shoes as Technoblade got the fire going, "Baba help untie 'dem" Niki whined.
"Okay Princess" Techno laughed, helping the girl take off her snow covered shoes. "Do you want to go change out of those big girl clothes?" He asked, earning an eager nod. "Baba will be right back, stay there" he instructed going to grab some spare clothes.
He returned with a sweatshirt and joggers, both being oversized for Niki. Regardless Techno handed them over as she ran off to go change only needing help with tying the waist band before she was done.
They sat down in the living room, carefully putting together a puzzle they had found, while Niki was in Techno's lap. "What are we gonna tell Phil" Techno contemplated.
"We tell 'em dat I don' wanna go back" Niki suggested innocently.
"That might work but you'll have to milk it, make Phil not want to send you back" Techno said, "you'll have to look super sad" he explained.
Niki nodded, "I can do dat" she said fully intending to do the same thing she did with Techno.
A little while later Phil returned, entering Techno's house to see Niki in his lap as they watched cartoons. "Techno, what's she doing here?" Phil questioned with a sigh.
"She didn't want to stay there anymore she was lonely, so I thought she could stay with us" Techno said with a guilty smile.
Another sigh, "you know she can't stay here, for her own safety" Phil said trying not to look at the sad little.
"But look at how sad she is!" Techno said
"I'll be good" Niki mumbled, an exaggerated pout present on her face.
Finally Phil seemed to cave, "alright alright, Niki can stay but we'll have to figure out what to do if someone stops by when we're not here" he said, walking off.
Once Phil was out of sight Techno looked at the girl in his lap, "Good job Princess, you did it" he said, giving her a kiss on the cheek as she erupted with giggles.
Techno did agree with what Phil said but that could wait until Niki was big again for that discussion, for now they were watching cartoons and solving puzzles.
