'I Love You'

It's only three words, and eight letters, it's a very simple sentence, but it means so much, why is it so hard to say? Especially to you...

My mother told me, that when you love someone you shouldn't feel nervous around them, instead, you should feel safe and comfortable, you should love their presence, that's what she said, that's how I know if I actually love someone

And that person is you

"NO!-" she sighs for the millionth time, "why is it so hard..." she continues to slap herself on the forehead, "stop, your forehead is turning red," I hold her wrist bringing her hand away from her forehead

"Shua, why is it so hard! To write a note! This isn't even some love letter! It's an application for a job!" I laugh at her, "you should just be honest," she shakes her head and puts down the pen

"Shua, sometimes, you need to lie, so people can hire you! Do you think they would want to hire me for talking back to my boss?"

"You did it for a good reason, didn't you? You scolded him for harassing another employee in the company!"

"Yeah! But I brought up his dead parents..." She messes up her hair due to frustration, "Shua, can't I just work with you? In that store, you work in..." I shake my head, "why not!"

"Seriously!? You're the best friend I've ever had!" She smiles, "Shua, I love you so much~" she cooed

Why is it so easy for you to say?

"When do you start giving me allowance?" she asks, "just tell me when you need money, of course, don't empty my pockets"

"I won't!" she chuckles, "also, there's this guy who has been asking me out lately, from the company I was fired in, he's cute," I nod as she continues to speak, "but he's younger"

"Didn't you say you were considering dating younger guys as well?" she nods, "yeah... But like, he's how do I say this..."

"It's up to you, you know I'll support you either way," she nods, "you'll beat him up for me if he's mean right?"

"Don't you do boxing?" she nods, "but! He's tall and buff, so I can't really uh, I think I'll lose," we both laugh, "alright then"

"Yes~ I love you~"

"How is that so easy to say for you?" she hums and looks at me confused, "huh? You mean I love you?" I nod my head, she smiles cheekily, "well Shua, if you actually love someone, genuinely, it wouldn't be a problem! I love you, so it's easy to say!"

"Why do you ask? WAIT!"

She walks in front of me and smiles and glares at me for a short while, "Hong Joshua," I raise a brow and smile, "yes?"

"Do you love someone!?" she squeals jumping up and down, "I knew it! Ever since you asked me what it feels like to feel be in love! I knew you liked someone! Who is it! Who! Who!~"

She patiently looks at me waiting for me to answer the question, of course, I'm flustered, this wasn't how I planned to tell her I love her...

I give her a genuine smile and ruffle her hair, "I'll tell you that soon, don't worry," she rolls her eyes, "fine, you'll tell me anyway, because, I am your best friend so"

"Yes, don't worry I'll tell you eventually"

"I bet she's pretty, cause, for one, it is hard to gain that heart of yours Shua," she makes the tsk sound crossing her arms and shaking her head, "my heart is hard to gain?"

"Because your standards are so high! I mean I can't blame you because like, I have high standards too"

And finally, when I had the courage, to tell you those simple words...

"I'm gonna have a date with Mingyu~" I raise a brow, "who's Mingyu?"

"The guy I told you about, the guy who is courting me at my last workplace, remember?"

"You've never mentioned the name..." I hide the rose I bought today before coming over, "oh really? I thought I did, oh well, Shua how do I look?" She shows me the outfit she put on for her date

"You look beautiful, as always..." I smile giving her a thumbs up, "nice! Any tips so I don't ruin my first date with him?" she asks as she places everything she needs in her bag

"Just have fun, and if you don't like him, just don't see him ever again," she chuckles, "hopefully I like him," she smiles, she looks at herself one more time in the mirror and smiles

"I'm ready!" She walks out of her room and I follow her from behind, "is he gonna pick you up?" she nods and looks at me fixing her outfit one more time

A honk of a car was heard from outside and she smiles, "he's here! Alright Shua, I'm gonna go now~" she hugs me tightly before pulling away

"Y/n," she looks at me before opening the front door, I smile at her, after taking a deep breath

"I love you"

She smiles and shows me a finger heart

"I love you too Shua~" she smiles widely before heading outside, I look out the window and she hugs Mingyu tightly before getting in his car, I smile faintly, I look at a vase nearby that had other flowers Y/n had

I walk up to it, placing the rose in the vase

"I love you so much..."
