That night, you were finishing up a book. The talk with Minji made things calmer now, and you were glad. You were about to close the book and fall asleep when a familiar ringtone rang from your phone. You smiled as you answered it. "Hey, Heeseung,"
"Hey, Y/n!" your boyfriend said. "How are you?" "I'm doing well. And you?" "I'm doing good. I didn't wake you up or anything, did I?"
You laughed and shook your head. "No, of course, you didn't. You already know that I'm a night owl."
"You're right. In that case, do you and the twins want to go to the park tomorrow? I want to bring Riki as well so we can develop a closer relationship."
Your eyes grew wide. "Oh, that sounds great. I would love to do that, and the twins will love it too!"
Heeseung was a different person from what he was in college, and it was a good thing. He didn't have a lot of friends and close relationships because he never opened up to people. But now, he was the one taking you places.
"Great! Now try to get some sleep, Y/n; I know you stay awake when you're excited." "I will try. Goodnight, Heeseung,"
"Goodnight, Y/n,"
You and the twins were supposed to be at the park by noon, so all of you had time before leaving.
Minji and Mingi were both in the living room, having a conversation. Minji was still cautious about Heeseung, but Mingi told her to relax.
"Do you remember what Mom said?" he asked. "Yeah, but I can't guarantee that I'll get comfortable around him," she replied. Mingi shrugged, "I don't think Mom's expecting for you to do that right away."
Even though it didn't seem like it, Mingi was a little cautious too, but not as much as his sister. From what you said, Heeseung was a great guy. But he was also a guy who got sent to prison for intoxicating girls.
Mingi just wanted to protect you.
"But I'm not gonna lie," said Minji, "I want to get to know his son a bit more." "You mean Riki?"
Minji nodded. "Yeah. I wished I had talked to him at the dinner. He was so adorable!"
"Well, I think Riki will be coming today, but I'm more interested in finding out his mother."
Minji playfully gasped. "What? Is the great Sim Mingi trying to find out information? That's my job!"
Mingi shrugged, "Nothing wrong with being a little curious."That was a trait he got from you.
Minji looked at the clock above the TV. "We're about to leave soon," she said, standing up. Mingi did the same and held out his hand.
"Today is the day we find out if Heeseung is good enough for Mom. If he does something that breaks her heart, we'll be there to protect her."
Minji smiled and shook her brother's hand. "It's a dome deal, little brother."
Heeseung told you all to meet him at the oak tree in the middle of the park. It was a nice, sunny day outside.
While you all were walking to the tree, you saw a tiny person jumping up and down, waving their hands. It was Riki.
You mentioned the twins to follow, and you walked toward the tree. "Is that Riki?" Mingi asked. "Yep," you said.
Once you arrived at the tree, Riki ran and jumped in your arms. "Y/n! I missed you!" he said. You laughed, "You saw me last night, though!"
"I know, but I still missed you." Riki jumped off and walked to the twins. He smiled and waved, "Hi Mingi and Minji,"
"Hey, Riki," said Minji. Oh my gosh! He's so adorable!
While Riki and the twins were talking, Heeseung walked up to you and kissed you on the cheek. "I would kiss you on the lips, but the kids are here," he said. You grinned and patted his face. "Maybe later."
Heeseung nodded and held up a picnic basket. "This is why I invited you three. Riki suggested we have a picnic so we can get closer together."
"Are you sure Riki said that or was that you?" you leaned closer into Heeseung's face. You could see the bit of red rising on his cheeks, and it made you laugh. "Nothing wrong with it, though," Heeseung nodded. "Good. Now, let's go ahead—"
Before Heeseung could finish his sentence, there was a loud clap of thunder. It startled Riki, and he hid behind Minji. There were dark gray clouds rolling in the distance.
"Hm, it must be a pop-up shower," said Heeseung. He looked at you with a disappointed look on his face. "I'm so sorry that the picnic got ruined, Y/n. I should've checked the weather yesterday. I was just so excited—"
You held your hand up to silence him. "Did you forget that we have houses? We can eat the picnic at your house." you looked at the twins. "What do you guys think?"
Mingi and Minji looked at each other, then back at you. They both smiled and nodded in unison. "Yes," they said. You looked over at Heeseung, and he nodded in agreement.
So the picnic was moved over to his house. Everyone enjoyed the food and each other's company. Minji even opened up to Heeseung, and Riki played video games with Mingi. You were glad that everyone was getting along.
Around nine o'clock at night, you had fallen asleep on the couch, and Riki was lying on your stomach. Heeseung sat at the dining room table and smiled at the scene.
Those are the two people I love, he thought.
Yes, he loved you, but he was afraid to tell you. The last time he told someone he loved them, the person ran away.
Heeseung kept watching and didn't notice the twins walking in. They sat on either side of him and started watching you and Riki sleeping.
Once he noticed, Heeseung sighed deeply. "Before I can tell your mother I love her, I have to come clean to you two."
Mingi looked at Heeseung confusingly. "What do you mean?"
"I'm going to tell you two about the Drunk-Dazed Scandal that I was involved in."
