You were acting different, and your twins noticed it. However, they actually enjoyed it.
You were smiling more, and it looked like all of your stress had drained away. The household was a much happier place now. It hasn't been like that since Jaeyun died months ago.
It was Saturday, and you and the twins were eating breakfast together. After a few minutes, you cleared your throat. "I just wanted to let you two know that we'll be eating dinner with someone- no, two people- tonight."
"Who?" Minji asked. "You will find out tonight," you nodded, glancing at Mingi. He gave you a confused look, then he realized. He mouthed a lengthy, "oh," and went back to eating breakfast.
Minji glared at him. "You know something about this, don't know, Mingi?"
Mingi shook his head. "I'm as clueless as you are, big sis."
But Minji didn't believe him. "No, you're not telling me everything, and I don't like that. We're twins, meaning no secrets between us!"
"Watch your tone now, Sim Minji," you warned. "But he's hiding something!"
"Minji-"
Before you could finish, Minji stood up from her seat and stormed to her room. You sighed and shook your head. "I wonder how she'll react to the news tonight," "Don't worry, Mom, she'll like Heeseung," Mingi said.
The night you came from Heeseung's, Mingi was waiting for you. It startled you when you saw him. "Gosh, Mingi, I didn't see you there. What are you doing still up?"
"Are you and him dating yet?" Mingi asked. "Who are you talking- ohhh." you smiled. "Yes, we're going out now."
"I'm happy for you, Mom."
"Aww," you walked to your son and wrapped him in a hug. "Thank you, Mingi,"
"What's his name?"
You sighed. "Well, I was going to let you find out next week, but I'll tell you now, I suppose."
You ended up telling Mingi about the whole date. That's how he knew almost everything about your new boyfriend. But you haven't told him how you and Heeseung met in college; that's a story for later.
You continued to think about Minji as you were cleaning. Her attitude told you she wasn't ready to meet Heeseung yet. But you hated hiding secrets; it was making you stressed.
So you had no choice but to tell her, no matter the consequences.
"Where are we going to go eat at?" your daughter asked while everyone was in the car. "We're going to barbecue place. I went there on one of my dates." "Was it good?"
You nodded. "The best barbecue I had in a while."
The ride went back to being silent. Minutes later, you pulled into the parking lot and turned off the engine. "Are you guys ready?" you asked, facing the twins. "Yeah," Mingi nodded. Minji shrugged her shoulders. "I guess so,"
Everyone climbed out of the car and made their way inside the restaurant. You were walking in the front while your twins walked behind you.
Minji leaned in Mingi's ear. "I wonder who we're meeting," she whispered. "Same," he whispered back.
You all made it inside the restaurant and started walking towards the back. You were looking around for the person. Then finally, you noticed him in the corner of the restaurant, watching you and laughing. You smiled and went to the table. The man stood up, and you walked right into his arms, hugging him.
"It's always so great to see you, Y/N," he said. "Same for you too," you said. "You're not going to hug me, Y/N?" a small voice said. You looked over and saw Riki. You grinned, "Come here, Riki,"
The boy giggled and hugged you. "I have some people I want to introduce you all," you said. You turned around and extended your hand towards the twins. "Riki, Heeseung, these are my twins, Minji and Mingi. Minji and Mingi, this is my boyfriend and his son, Heeseung and Riki,"
The twins were shocked. Even Mingi, who knew you had a boyfriend way before Minji, was shocked; he didn't expect your boyfriend to be someone who went to prison. Minji was right all along.
But Mingi slightly bowed his head, still showing his manners. "It's nice to meet you, Heeseung and Riki,"
Mingi elbowed his sister in the stomach, and she repeated the same action. "Yes, it's very nice to meet you two,"
You didn't notice the uncomfortableness in the air, but Heeseung did. "Let's go ahead and order our drinks, shall we?" he asked, smiling. "Yes, of course," you said. Heeseung pulled out the chair next to him, and you sat down. Riki sat on the chair next to you.
The twins sat across from you all. Mingi heard his sister's breathing getting faster, so he held her hand to calm her down. "You don't need to talk to him; I can do it all," Mingi whispered. "But Mingi," Minji asked, "what if he spiked our drinks?"
"We haven't even gotten our drinks yet,"
"But you may never know,"
The waiter came and ordered everyone's drinks. When the drinks came out, the twins pulled their cups closer to them.
"So, how did you two meet?" Mingi asked. "She was the therapist for Riki," Heeseung replied. Riki nodded. "Yeah! Y/N is a great therapist!"
"Aw, thank you, Riki," you said.
For the rest of the dinner, you, Heeseung, and Riki talked to each other. Sometimes the twins were in the conversations too, but not every time.
One hour later, everyone had finished their meal. Heeseung paid for everything, and you all walked out of the restaurant.
"It was great meeting you two," Heeseung said to the twins, smiling. "Yes, you too," said Mingi. Minji nodded. You hugged Heeseung and kissed him on the cheek. You hugged Riki as well.
Everyone said bye to each other and got inside of their cars. "So, what do you two think of Heeseung?" you asked the twins. Mingi nodded. "I think he's friendly," he wasn't lying about that. You looked over at Minji, but she had her eyes closed, leaning on the seatbelt. You sighed and started the car, making the route home.
When you arrived, Minji woke up and got out of the car, slamming the door. You went after her, but she slammed the door to her room as well.
You knocked on the door. "Minji, can we talk?"
