Chapter 17: I Love You

After Riki slipped into his pajamas, he went to you, and you picked him up. You carried him to bed and pulled back his covers. Still half asleep, Riki climbed into bed and pulled the covers over him.

"Goodnight, Y/n," Riki said softly. "Goodnight, Riki," you said, leaning over and kissing him on the cheek.

He smiled and fell back asleep. You smiled as well, and then you walked out of his room, closing the door.

You didn't know Mingi was standing there, so you jumped when you saw him. "Oh, hey Ming," you said, yawning. "We're about to leave soon, anyway."

"Heeseung told us his backstory,"

You raised an eyebrow. "Backstory, what do you mean?"

"He told us about the Drunk-Dazed Scandal,"

You froze in your spot. You didn't expect Heeseung to tell the twins everything about his college life. You became worried. "Mingi, where's Heeseung at?"

Mingi pointed towards the kitchen. "He's in there with Minji,"

You nodded and walked to the kitchen. When you arrived, you saw that Minji and Heeseung were still talking. You hid behind the wall and listened.

"What? You think it's a joke?" you heard Minji snap.

"No, I'm not laughing about that; it's just that your mom warned me of your personality. She told me that I don't need to be afraid of a thirteen-year-old girl who threatens people. But Minji?"

You laughed silently, remembering when you told Heeseung those words.

"I will never do anything to hurt Y/n in any way. I will hurt myself if I hurt her"

For the second time that night, you froze in your spot again. I will hurt myself if I hurt her.

Those words were repeating in your head like a record player. You soon thought back to college when Heeseung got arrested that night. He had hurt you emotionally beforehand, and then he paid for it.

Heeseung walked out of the kitchen and saw you leaning on the wall. But unlike when you saw Mingi, Heeseung didn't flinch. "I didn't know you were standing there, Y/n," he said. "Mom?" Minji said, walking from the kitchen.

You looked at Minji. "I want you and your brother to go ahead and get ready to leave. You two can hang out in the game room until I call. Understand?"

"Yes, ma'am," said Minji, walking away. Once she was gone, you mentioned Heeseung to follow you to the couch.

"So, how much did you hear from the conversation?" he asked. "I only got there when Minji asked if this was a joke,"

Heeseung nodded. You suddenly felt him grab your hands. He lifted them and kissed them one by one. You felt your body start to heat up.

"Y/n, I'm sorry for telling the twins about the scandal. I know I should've asked you—"

"No," you said, lifting your finger to silence him. "Heeseung, I'm glad that you told them. That shows how much you care about them."

"Wait, you mean it?"

You nodded. "Yes, really, and that's why I love you for that."

"Oh, thank—wait, what did you say?"

You felt your cheeks grow red. "I said I love you," you said quietly. "Can you repeat that? I didn't hear you." Heeseung smirked, leaning closer to you.

"I said I love you!"

You felt your heart beating quickly. You couldn't believe you said those words. You heard laughing and looked up to see Heeseung doing so. "What's funny?" you asked.

"I heard you the first time, Y/n; I just wanted to hear those words again." Heeseung pulled you closer to him and smiled, caressing your cheek. "It's just that this is the first time you said you loved me."

"Wait, I never told you in college?" you asked, surprised. "I got arrested, remember?"

You nodded, and Heeseung leaned over, kissing you on the lips. "Wanna know something?" he asked. "What?"

"I love you too,"

He leaned and kissed you again. You wrapped your arms around him, longing for his touch. Then Heeseung pulled you closer, still kissing you deeply. You were in the heat of the moment when you remembered where you were.

You pulled away from him, trying to get some air. Heeseung pouted. "Why did you pull away? I wanted to keep going,"

You chuckled, pulling him into your neck. "I would, but we have children over here." "So? Why does that matter?"

Heeseung hugged you, softly kissing your neck. You drew circles on his back with your hand. "We'll finish it later,"

He looked up at you. "You better be serious,"

"Of course, I'm serious. Now, I need to go before I fall asleep again."

"You could always stay here and finish what we started."

You laughed. "Nice try, but we both have kids."

Before you stood up, you gave Heeseung one last kiss. Then you walked to the game room where you saw the kids watching TV. You touched their shoulders, and they looked up at you. "Let's get ready to go now,"

They nodded and stood up, following you to the front door. The twins said bye to Heeseung, and you hugged him. Then you all got inside the car and drove off.

A few minutes later, Minji spoke up. "Hey Mom, what were you like in college?"

"What was I like? Hmm," you said. "Well, I never minded my business; I was always curious. That's how I met Heeseung in college,"

"Did you have any boyfriends before Heeseung?"

"I dated a guy named Park Jongseong, but it didn't work out between us. He was a player,"

"Hey, wait," Mingi said. "Park Jongseong, as in Heeseung's half-brother? I thought Heeseung was your first?"

"Yes, Heeseung's half-brother was my actual first boyfriend. You had it wrong."

"Wow," the twins said at the same time. You laughed at their reactions. "Wait, then how did you end up with Heeseung?" Minji asked.

"We hung out with each other more, and I went to more of his parties. Plus, it was Aunt Mimi who helped get us together."

The twins looked at each other, confused. You laughed again.
