Nightmare groaned in frustration. Why did healing have to take so long . . . He sat patiently, well, to the best of his ability, while Dust was trying to heal him.
There had been a large battle, and Nightmare was one of those who took the most beating. Unlucky for him, he takes the longest to heal, thanks to the goop around him not being able to regenerate quickly and healing magic doesn't work with it very well to help.
Dust is the best healer out of the entire group, plus is the only one who has healing magic that actually works, and combines itself with Nightmare's goop to speed up the healing process.
"You already know that it takes what feels like forever to heal you" Dust grumbled as he moved his hands to heal Nightmare's left foot which was completely missing. Nightmare muttered and complained to himself quietly while Dust continued to heal him.
Soon enough his foot was back to normal, goop forming to resemble a skeleton foot.
"At least I can finally stand again" Nightmare said with a laugh "Yeah right, I'm surprised you can even keep your back upright. Where you bashed into a tree or something?" Dust replied with light sarcasm, raising a metaphorical eyebrow. "Yeah, actually, I was. It only caused four ribs to break off, and my spine to almost break in two. Blue should've given more backbone into the throw" Nightmare snickered. Dust just burst out laughing "Y-You're seriously s-still making puns w-while you're badly injured, y-you should be a stand-up comedian" Dust replied before bursting out laughing again. Nightmare started to laugh, at some point even doing the signature Underswap!Sans laugh. "Wait hold up- W-why do you laugh like a Swap!Sans?" Dust asked, stopping his and Nightmare's laughing fit. "Tell anyone about what happens in this room, I'll make that little nickname of yours a reality." Nightmare glared at him "Get back to healing me." he continued. "Right, sorry!" Dust chirped, getting back to work, this time on Nightmare's back.
Dust blushed at the feeling of his hands on Nightmare's bare back. Much to the King's annoyance, he was forced to take off his beloved jacket and turtleneck sweater so Dust could heal his ribcage.
All of Nightmare's tendrils had been sliced off, so Dust would have to heal Nightmare's upper back for quite a while.
Once Dust had finished healing the ribs that had been broken off, he moved his hands back to where Nightmare's tendrils should've been. "I'm going to start healing your tendrils, 'aight?" Dust asked, worry in his tone. "Yes, yes, just get on with it. I know it hurts the most out of everything, but it's bearable." Nightmare grumbled, clutching for dear life onto the edge of his bed, Dust sat next to him.
Dust started to heal Nightmare's back, watching his expression to see where it hurts the most. Dust got an idea as to help, physical affection helps people, right? And so he tested out his theory.
While healing Nightmare, he moved his hands up and down his upper back in a soothing manner. He was surprised when Nightmare practically melted back into his hands, his eye sockets closed, and smiling. "Not. A. Word." Was all Nightmare said, glaring at Dust, before going back to smiling contently. The pain Nightmare was supposed to feel was completely gone.
When Dust went to pull away his hands, having finished healing Nightmare's back, two tendrils sprung to life and wrapped around one of his arms. "Continue, please. As your Boss, that's an order." Nightmare said. Another two tendrils burst out from his back and wrapped themselves around Dust's waist and gently moved him closer. Said dust-covered skeleton's skull turned a bright blue and red. "Y-Yes Boss." Dust said, moving a hand back to Nightmare's upper spine and rubbing circles into it once the tendrils let go of his arm. His other hand started to pet the two tendrils that let go of his arm.
All Nightmare did was melt and snuggle back into the petting. The goopy skeleton rested his skull on Dust's shoulder, a soft and pleasant smile on his face, eyes closed once more. He never expected that being pet was this comfortable, let alone even thinking he would ever be pet in such a gentle and comforting manner. He'd never been this comfortable in his more than five hundred years of existence.
On the other hand, Dust was blushing bright enough to put the sun to shame. He became even more flustered when the ends of the tendrils he was petting started to curl around his arm, making sure he wouldn't dare try to stop petting them.
Nightmare nuzzled his skull into Dust's neck. This only made Dust's blush to somehow grow even brighter. Dust decided to take a risk, and gave Nightmare a kiss on the top of his skull. All Nightmare did was snicker and say "We're making each other go soft, aren't we?".

Ehhhhhh. This is probably bad, and cheesy, with little to no editing whatsoever. I'm tired, and currently kind of sad. Kirby music helps though.
It's also best you just imagine that Dust has his hood down- Or doesn't have his jacket on and just his t-shirt / jumper / whatever he's wearing.
I hope you all have had a great (or not, if the case may be) Christmas if you celebrate it, and have a happy New Year!
