AN: Sorry for bursting in before the chapter even starts. Just wanted to say that this chapter is twice the length of the previous one, so you might wanna make sure you have at least the next 40 minutes free + if you read my notes that's probably another 40 (that's a joke they aren't that long... hopefully).
If there's a mistake or I don't know something confusing, please leave a comment so I can fix it or make it clearer or something. I'm 99% sure that everything is correct, but there's still a chance that I forgot to include a scene or a transition or something like that, because I remember editing this earlier and saying "I'll figure this later" but I can't find it and I've read this chapter like forty times now, and I don't think I can do it again, so I'm really really sorry for the possible mistakes.

Anyway, see you at the end of the end!

In a span of few days my life has become a mix of going through Tails' notebooks and sleeping. Sure, I eat and do other stuff too, but for now the weapon is my main objective. Yeah, I know that I'm not exactly needed in battle. Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles and Sticks have been protecting the island long before I came here, and they're doing it well. I just want to help them. It's literally the least I can do. That is why my day so far has been spent here by the kitchen table, trying to come up with an idea that I like. Too bad that just doesn't seem to want to happen.

The front door flings open, and I don't even have to glance there to know who it is. "Hi Tails," I say and turn the page again.

Earlier today, before Tails left to his workshop, he was acting somewhat differently. There was something about the way he talked that was not like on all the other days. It was like he was really calculating what he could say. I can't think of anything that could have made him to start 'censoring' himself around me. Though, it might be that I'm just looking into it too much and he's just tired. He did spend the yesterday evening and well into the night at the workshop.

"You're doing that again?" he asks as he sets something down by the door. "You're more tied to that than I've ever been to... anything."

I shoot him a glare, "I doubt that."

He crosses his arms, "No. You've been doing that all week. You didn't even go outside yesterday."

"That's not true," I reply. "And that doesn't really matter. I just wanna get this finished once and for all so this stupid arc can come to a close."

"Well you can forget that for now," he says much to my confusion. My interest doesn't exactly peak, but I turn to him and close the notebook, telling him to go on. "There's something in the workshop."

I blink, "Don't say you created something for me."

"It's nothing like that. It's more of a 'I need another pair of brains that can think outside the box' type of situation," he tells me.

Now that right there does sound interesting. I get up, "Okay now I'm in."

Though the journey to the workshop isn't longer than ten seconds, my headspace is still filled with all kinds of questions. What could Tails be needing help with? He's one of the smartest people I've ever met and there isn't really anything inventing related that could prove him trouble. Not trouble I'd be able to help with at least. He takes me into the building and over to a workbench that has something hidden by a tarp on it. It's clear he wants me to ask what it is, as he doesn't immediately take the tarp off and instead looks over to me.

"So why'd you summon me?" I ask.

He smiles and grabs the tarp, "This."

Pulling the tarp, he at first fails and gives me an awkward smile with a chuckle. He tries again, this time with better results. The tarp files to the side revealing what has been hiding under it: A small metallic device sitting on two wheels. Parts of it are orange and sitting on top of its top part are two antenna like devices which I believe are hearing receptors. I've seen the invention before, twice I think, and I know Tails had trouble with it. It's the Mobile Universal Paraphrasing and Translation Module. Why is he showing it to me?
