I'm Skipping

When I woke up I had a horrible ache in my neck. I wasn't able to get much sleep last night considering the fact that I have trouble sleeping and that the couch isn't too comfortable. I sat up and noticed a note on the coffee table from my dad:

Hope you slept well. Won't be home until late, love you.  -Dad

I left the note and grabbed my pillow and blanket before heading upstairs. My room was quiet so I assumed Aydrian was still asleep. School was going to start shortly and I needed to get my clothes so I slowly opened the door, trying not to wake Aydrian up. She wasn't there. My bed was neatly made with my clothes folded on top. On top of the clothes was a note:

Jayce, I know me following you home and spending the night was a bit out of the blue considering we don't even know each other but thank you. I promise it won't happen again, I just needed somewhere to go for the night. Thank you again.  -Aydrian

Before this I was confused but now I don't know what to think. I didn't have time to contemplate the note because I had to leave for school. Rummaging through my closet I found another pair of black jeans and since it was out, I decided to wear the Tom and Jerry hoodie because I didn't have time to grab another one. I rushed out the door, locking it before getting in my car and driving to school. My school parking forms haven't been approved yet so I had to hope there was an open parking spot. There was not, so I parked on one of the side streets near the school. From there I checked my phone and noticed it was 7:57am meaning I had three minutes to get to class before I would be deemed late. I booked it to the school and into the main building. I ran down the first hall, took a left and checked my phone again.

7:59am. One minute.

I made another left and a right before spotting the door to Mr. West's class. The bell rang right as I stepped into class.

"Mr. Maxton," Mr. West said in a stern voice. He didn't look like he was having a good morning.

"I'm sorry. Traffic. Won't happen again," I mumbled out as I rushed to my seat.

He continued the roll call and started today's lesson. I wasn't paying attention to the lesson as my gaze was elsewhere. Aydrian was wearing a pair of black sweatpants and another oversized t-shirt with no design. She was staring at her desk and I was staring at her. Mr. West was ranting about the test we're supposed to have on Friday so he didn't notice me as I pulled out a sheet of paper and wrote something on it before passing it to Aydrian.

Are you feeling okay?

She read the contents of the note before writing something and passing it back.

I'm better. I see you're wearing the Tom and Jerry hoodie.

I wrote back: It was left, folded so nicely on my bed that I was so tempted to wear it.

She laughed.

You're a dork.

"Mr. Maxton and Ms. Jenkins, would either of you mind reading the class what's on that note that you've been passing back and forth?" Mr. West asked.

I looked at Aydrian before replying, "sure thing Mr. West."

Then I proceeded to read the note, or more so a bent version of the note, "how are you, oh that's what I asked by the way. She responds, I'm good and you? So then I say, we'll im doing just dandy thanks for asking, and then-"

"Okay Mr. Maxton that's enough. Please don't pass notes in my class again," he said, cutting me off.

I faked a salute and said, "sir yes sir."
