Chapter 9

Everything was hazy. I felt two arms carrying me, and I constantly had the feeling of weightlessness.

I was still in the water. I opened my eyes a little and I saw Blair trying to carry me and swim to shore.

“W-whaa?” I croaked.

He sneaked a fast glance at me so he didn’t ruin his momentum and with a breathless, and quick expulsion of air, “Were almost there.”

“I think... I think I can swim...” I said, trying to sneak out of his tan arms, holding me tightly.

He stopped, trying to catch his breath, and tread water. I slowly slid out of his grasp, and moved my tail with slow, and fluid motions. I held my hand up to my head, “What happened?” I managed to say.

“You—you, blacked out. You were just swimming there and then... Your eyes... they turned a brilliant blue, and then you just... fell.” He said, clearly distracted and trying to remember.

“Yeah. I’ve had one before.” I said, with guilt in my voice.

“Crystal. You scared the hell out of me! And Sasha too!” He said, trying to get closer.

“I’m sorry... Um, where’s Sasha?” I blushed, and tried to change the subject.

“She went to go get help. But clearly we don’t need it now.” He said with a little smirk.

We both heard shouting, from my parents, and an awful, ape-child wail, obviously from Sasha, trying to get our attention.

I turned my head and saw my parents by the shore, waving and shouting.

“Come on, we need to get back.” Blair said.

“Okay.” I said, suddenly I weakened with the sudden release of oxygen and slipped under the water a little bit.

“Crys!” he yelled as he reached out with his strong arms, and caught me before I completely disappeared under the surface.

“I’m okay! I’m okay.” I said.

“Sorry Blair, but I need Murphy.” I said, and once the words left my lips, his eyes widened, and he backed away. Farther and farther away from me.

Murphy? Are you there? I called to him with my mind.

...egh... Whaa? I heard a drowsy voice say.

Murph, have you been sleeping?! I thought with disbelief.

Uhhhh, yu*p* He said, popping the P, but he still sounded really groggy.

I had a vision. I thought as I swam with Blair towards the shore.

Yeeeaaahh. Forgot to tell you some details about those things. I think we need to talk to your Dad. He said, evading the conversation.

Okay, but you are coming out, I need your help. I said, grabbing the necklace.

Okie, Dokie! He said happily.

I rubbed my finger over the nose of the statue of Murphy and the shark charm melted away from the necklace, only leaving a silver chain around my neck.

The charm sunk in the turquoise water, but then a brilliant white light shone from it.

The white light was so over whelming, I had to shield my eyes.

Then, the light died out, and a familiar blue fin was circling me in the shallows.

I looked over at my parents and Sasha.
