Change of A Life Time

Chapter 3

(Recap)

“What?” I asked in obvious confusion.

“Crys, if you’re playing some screwy joke, it’s not funny!” she said calmly, but with an angry look on her face.

“I’m not playing a joke Sasha, and what are you talking about?” I said.

“Your eyes turned, like a really, really blue. Like, not-possible kind of blue.” She said.

 “Like, just now?”

 “Yeah—“ She started to say.

Suddenly, the coach ran over.

“Crystal Evans! What are you doing out of the locker room? You should not be up! With an experience like that; are you alright?” She asked with sincerity.

“Yeah Coach, I’m fine. Thank you.” I said with a fake smile, because my feelings right now are definitely not happy.

After swimming, I packed my stuff, and went up to the front of the school.

I saw my mom’s car and walked over.

“Hey mom!” I said excitedly.

“How was school?” She asked in her usual tone.

I really did want to tell her, but I was worried she would make a really big deal about it. So, I let my conscience decide.

“Well, at school, I fell in the pool and, I blacked out. And while I was you know, out I had this vision of, my parents, like my real parents of a giant tsunami, and it, swallowed us up, and I got pulled away from them.”

Every word I said, my voice got softer and softer, and it toned down lower and lower.

My mom looked at me with genuine compassion and sympathy.

“Oh, I’m sorry honey.” She said gently as she held on to my hand. Silently vowing, never, ever to let me go.

I got home after and long and sort of awkward ride with my mom.

She talked to me about seeing a psychiatrist so we can straighten out the vision issue.

She didn’t think I was crazy, or anything, just worried about the visions.

A little later, the doctor just said that I had a mild concussion... and from? I don’t even know. It really puzzled me. I must have hit my head at the bottom of the pool or something....

Once I got home, I got straight to my homework, on the porch of course.

We have this amazing view of the ocean. And we live on the coast of the beach, were I can easily stroll down our driveway and, after a bit of walking, I’m on the golden sand of the California coast. It’s really beautiful, but today, I am just having a pull towards the ocean, even after my really scary, vision or whatever.

I went to my room and got on my bathing suit, and walked silently down the porch and to the beach.

The sun was setting and it was beautiful. They sky was red, orange, and pink, and the sun, was a great golden orb in the sky. I was nearly in tears it was that pretty.

I suddenly had a giant rush of adrenaline and excitement; I rushed over to the edge of the water, and ran in. After wading just a little bit, I dove.

It must seem really stupid, that I would be swimming at a time like this, even after my experience, but the water was calling to me.

The water felt like cream surrounding my body. The slight current running through my hair. I opened my eyes and saw the beauty around me.

Wait a minute... the reef. In my vision.

Very weird. I thought.

I looked up to see how far the surface of the water was and I was just about a foot under it.

It was almost dark, I should be getting home, but a few hundred yards away from where I was swimming, was a little cove.

I swam toward it with some interest. I saw a small opening under water into the cave, so I went in it. I wouldn’t want to get on the craggy rocks surrounding it.

I swam around in the cove for a little while, until I realized what time it was.

The moon was out already!

Great, mom is going to be so mad! I thought angrily to myself.

I started to swim over to the edge to get out, but a current pushed me back.

Um, that was a little weird. I thought to myself.

I tried again to get to the edge. I got closer this time, but still a little current pushed me back.

Okay, nothing is happening just a small current from the underwater opening. I thought with a small dose of panic.

I looked up and noticed the moon was getting higher into the sky.

I stared at it with awe, like I was in a trance....

I woke up and found my self, still at the water’s edge.

The only thought that came to my mind: SHIT!

I am in so much trouble! My mom is going to kill me, and not to mention my dad, but he will kill me even more!

“Shit Shit Shit!” I whispered as I tried to get over the lagoon’s edge.

My legs felt as hard as rocks, I looked down, and saw that they were perfectly fine, so I heaved myself out of the water, but I was drained. I could barely stand straight.

I walked home to go finish my homework, and get yelled at by my parents.

After my homework was done and surprisingly just a small reprimand from my parents, I went up to get a bath to get all the seawater off me.

I undressed and stepped in the tub with hot water filled to the brim.

Before, I happily poured some bath salts in to “exfoliate the skin” or whatever those people called it.

I stepped in and closed my eyes, and felt a tingle in my legs and sooner or later they began to numb.

I kept my eyes closed and ignored the numbness until it went away.

I tried to readjust my legs but they wouldn’t move.

I tried again, and still they wouldn’t move. I opened my eyes to see what was happening, and I was staring at a bright blue, green, and purple tail!

“What... the... hell...” was all I said before I screamed.
