Vah Ruta. Link had finally arrived, and with the help of Prince Sidon, he'd managed to calm the Divine Beast enough to be able to enter it.
"We're all counting on you, Link!" Prince Sidon called before swimming away, leaving Link to face the Divine Beast alone.
He turned, glancing up for a moment to analyze the huge machinery from up close. Taking a deep breath, he strode towards the entrance, filled with determination. It's now or never.
Before he passed through the doorway arch, however, he abruptly paused, feeling a presence behind him. Did Prince Sidon change his mind? However, when he turned around, he found no one standing there. His eyebrows furrowed. I could've sworn someone was there...
Link whipped back around, intending to officially enter the Divine Beast, only to come face to face with a pair of glowing amber eyes. Yelping, he scrambled back and would've fallen right off the platform if the sorceress before him hadn't swiftly reacted, grabbing his wrist and pulling him upright.
"Hello, hero. We meet again."
Now that he was no longer in flight or fight mode, he could properly scowl at Raven's grinning face without freaking out at their unexpected close proximity. "You scared the chuchu jelly out of me!"
It was true; in his startled panic, some materials had fallen out of his pockets: specifically, a bunch of chuchu jelly.
While he gathered it up, Raven giggled. "I thought it would be funny, sorry."
He narrowed his eyes in her direction once he had everything back in its place. "It was most certainly not funny, sorceress. You must have a twisted sense of humor."
She scoffed. "I haven't heard truer words in seven decades." She lowered herself down from where she floated, her feet landing on the platform with a click — the sound immediately drawing Link's eyes, leading him to notice that she wasn't barefoot for once. Instead, she wore tall brown boots, the color matching the belts strapped around her waist and thighs. Following his gaze, she commented, "No way am I going into this thing without some form of foot protection; that Malice stuff leaves a nasty bruise. Takes a while for even me to heal it." She paused, pouting, and muttered to herself, "Calamity Ganon is a powerful force to be reckoned with..."
Link's eyebrows shot up. So she admits that she isn't the strongest being in the land. Then, her words fully sinking in, he asked, "You're helping me?"
She hummed in thought. "I wouldn't say I'm helping, I'd say... I'm accompanying you." She shrugged. "Reclaiming Vah Ruta — or any of the other Divine Beasts, for that matter — isn't my responsibility. It isn't my place to interfere with a task you're fated to fulfill. However..." She grinned, swinging her arms out in a boastful motion. "Who says I can't come along and watch? After all, I'm probably the only one brave enough and strong enough to join you inside a Divine Beast."
He sighed. Annnnnd she's back...
Her behavior made Link want to scold her, but before he could get a word in, she clapped her hands impatiently. "Well, come on, hero. This Divine Beast won't defeat itself."
"Who died and made her queen?" he grumbled to himself, following begrudgingly.
Upon entering the first room, Mipha's voice echoed loud and clear, guiding him to a side room barred off, instructing him to get a map and activate the terminals to take back control of Vah Ruta from Calamity Ganon.
Once her voice faded, Raven mused, "Lady Mipha... I saw her statue in Zora's Domain. She was quite beautiful. It's a shame I never cared enough to meet her; she seemed like a lovely Zora to be acquainted with."
