"So what are we doing again?" I asked Gwen who seemed to be overly excited after arriving.
The music was loud.
Too loud for my liking which was strange since I was in a band for a good half of my life
"You're drinking. I'm waiting for my sister, oh and tell the boss guy you know me and he'll give you the first couple for free" she smiled and walked away
I listened to Gwen and went to the bar. The music still booming, I ordered the strongest drink I could find and told the bartender I knew Gwen and she kept her word
"I've got some more rules for you" I heard from behind me
I turned and groaned at the sight of josh standing there smugly
"What now" I growled
"I'm picking the song... you know Charlie puth right?" He smiled
"Yeah why?"
"So if I surprise you with the song you'll still know the words?" He asked
"Should do" I gritted my teeth, sending a signal to the bartender asking for the same drink
"Good boy" josh patted my back
"I'm not a dog!" I snapped
"Sure you're not" he grinned and walked off to talk to the man next to the stage
I downed the drink handed to me "friend of yours?" The bartender asked
"Not exactly" I mumbled back to him
"Didn't think so, everything ok?" The bartender asked again
"Yeah I'll be fine, just gotta do a musical number then I'll be good" I half joked
"I hope you can sing better than most the guys I see in here" the bartender laughed
"I hope so to... can I ask for your name? Since youre gwens friend" I asked
"Sure, it's luke. Most people call me punz though, an old nickname before you ask" he smiled
"Well it was nice seeing you Punz" I attempted my best smile and walked off towards the stage
"It's all set up for you" josh smiled
I grabbed the microphone from his hands and headed to the stage.
The crowd were staring, I hadn't felt this way in a long time.
I liked the feeling, as scary as it was.
But that's when I saw Gwen. The smile beaming in her face reminded me of why I was there.
I took a heavy gulp as I recognised the song
