America's POV:

I was in the living room reading one of my favourite books when I heard the knock at the door. I took a deep breath and walked out to the hall. I twisted the handle and opened the door and there he was.

Maxon. My Maxon.

Suddenly, it was just me and Maxon. Maxon and I. Us.

I saw him look me up and down and he sucked in a breath at the sight of me.

Wow. Thanks, Maxon.

"W-would you like to come in?" I offered.

"Erm, yes. Thanks." he said, sounding nervous.

He followed me to the living room where I took a seat on the armchair and he sat on the couch. Two of his guards stayed at the door.

My family were all upstairs, thankfully. This was hard enough to do with just us, but with my family around, it would be unbearable. I was grateful Mom had decided to give me privacy.

"America" he breathed.

That was all it took. The way he said my name was enough to make me fall in love with him all over again.

A-mer-i-ca.

"You have no idea how much I've missed you. Life at the palace just isn't the same when you're not around. I miss your quiet singing, the flashes of your red hair around the corners or on the stairs, I miss seeing that cheeky grin when you tug your ear. America, I miss your presence. I miss you."

"Oh, Maxon" my eyes filled with tears. "I missed you so much, I didn't eat, I didn't sleep, I could count on one hand the amount of times I've smiled since I left the palace. Maxon, I love you." I looked deep into those brown eyes and saw them soften.

He motioned for me to come sit with him. I did. I fixated on a spot on the ground, until ever so gently, as if he was afraid I might crack, he tilted my chin up to him and kissed me. It was a sweet kiss, like our first ones. Tender and soft.

I giggled quietly and he smiled.

"America?" Maxon said.

"Yes?"

"Will you come back to the palace with me?"

I nodded and a grin formed on my face and I could tell it reached my eyes.

"Maxon?"

"Yes, darling?"

"Remember that yellow house you bought?" "Do you still have it? I would love to have my family close to me." I said, looking at him innocently.

"I kept it, I didn't have the heart to sell it." he admitted.

"So my family can be near me?" I squealed, flopping into his arms.

He was surprised by my embrace, I could tell. But then I felt him wrap his arms around me and place his chin on my head and I sunk into his touch, there was nowhere I'd rather be than in his arms.

"I missed this." I mumbled into his chest.

"Me too, America. More than you know." he chuckled.

Author's Note:

Hey my lovelies!

The update is here and this is where it actually starts to get good, like we get some Maxerica action.

Also, I have decided I'm going to split this fanfic into parts like this section is Part 1 and then we will have Part 2,3,4 etc.  I was thinking that like each Part starts and leads up to a significant moment or day in the Maxerica timeline.

Now, I do have a question for you guys: Do I make each of the parts a new story as in like a new work on my Wattpad profile, or do I just split it between this book? Does that make any sense? Please reply or comment on this and let me know what you think.

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed.

Have a beautiful day, and stay fabulous my lovelies.
