Stefani's POV
I feel a lot better knowing that Lillian's not phased by me being relentless on her in public, she didn't even bring it up- I did make a fair front to get side tracked.
It was unintentional that I took the elevator first, but reconsidering, it was probably for the best because eyes were attentive towards me and I decided to play it off.
"Has anyone seen my father? Lillian can't even keep up with her soon to be man," I acted as if I was half assed concerned.
"You really don't like her do you?" Lana approached me with a smirk.
"And what, you do?" I sassed back making her chuckle.
"The woman does see some amount of potential with you according to my last encounter," she makes small talk into something else.
"And when was this encounter?" I arched a brow.
"Before she went on a scavenger hunt looking for you know who," she indicated something.
"Oh please be a dear and enlighten me," I scoffed.
"You know I only want what's best for the company. I won't say anything... nor do I know who else here knows, but that assistant- Mary I believe?" She doses off trying to remember her name.
"I thought it was Martha," I retorted and she breaks out into a laugh.
"I don't remember your head being this far up your ass," she joked and I rolled my eyes with a smile.
"And I genuinely don't remember the home wrecker's name," I was reassured that she didn't know about me as Lillian's 'you know who.'
But I've worked closely with the woman when I graduated high school and we've had a great business relationship. She genuinely looks out for me and pushes me to think.
"As I was saying, my last encounter with Lillian was literally moments ago before you waltzed in with your flare and disregarded her existence.. she actually sees something in you- not in a step daughter figure but as a woman," Lana's choice of words takes a different direction.
"As if I care. Don't get me wrong, you saying something does catch my eye but seriously?" I almost choked and she chuckled.
"Take it from a woman who's had a successful marriage and is a happy mother of two sons, I say cut her a break. She's capable of caring for you- but only if you let her. And you make it rather difficult," she says sincerely before our conversation was cut with random clapping.
"About goddamn time," I scoffed and slow clapped watching my dad make his entrance through the front doors with-
"Oh for fuck sake!" I yelled and snatched Lana's drink.
No one could pay attention to me because of all the cheering and loud applause.
"Stefani, have mercy," Lana laughed as I chugged her champagne flute and slammed it to a nearby tray.
"How am I suppose to maintain professionalism with this," I leaned over to Lana.
"Hell if I knew, I thought you'd be at least entertained by this considering you're not so fond of Lillian," she made a fair claim.
"As if I want to be fond of Martha," i grimaced at the sight of the two taking the dance floor with flashing cameras.
"What the fucking hell," I almost spat and my eyes scanned the room coming across Veronica and she waved sheepishly next to Rachel.
"Speaking of hell, who's the other red head? Apples don't seem to fall far from the tree with you and your father," Lana teased.
"Oh please, she hasn't spread her legs and I'd disown myself if I ever get compared to my dad. The woman of the hour is traditionally his plus one- that should automatically be Lillian," I scoffed.
