After leaving the his sister and fiance at the restaurant, Bellamy heads straight home. Its the dead of the night by the time he arrives and given his extreme exhaustion he doesn't bother kicking off his shoes or going to bed, instead he flops onto his couch and closes his eyes as his conscious mind fades into darkness. It hasn't been an easy week, or months really, but Bellamy Blake pushes forward and excels in everything he puts his heart into. But its dedication has its consequences. Even with the immediate peace of mind as he falls asleep on the soft cushions of his sofa, his mind doesn't stop wondering back to the stressors that hide in the back of his subconscious.
After being hired on in Arkadia Penitentiary Bellamy knew it would have its ups and downs. It was a prison for God's sake, it wasn't in the job description as an easy job, and Arkadia was one of the worst of the worst to work in at times. While there was many inmates that wouldn't mind giving the guards a run for their money, giving them a hard time and all, there were a select few who kept their heads down and made the guards day's easy. Clarke was one of them. Bellamy hated how closed off she was, and how everyone treated and judged her for what is clearly a mistake- a set up. But she hasn't told anyone the truth, her truth, except Bellamy. Ever since she's spoken up about her past, about the truth, nights like this are far and few and they never last long. And there was no way of being able to focus on sleeping peacefully when the words Lincoln spoke rung through his ears.
"This only ends one way. With her dead."
"With her dead."
As Bellamy lies on his couch, tossing and turning to ignore the thoughts in his mind to fall asleep a ringing goes off from the coffee table. Considering his phone is on vibrate to noise echoes off the wooden structure until he picks it up. He knew something was wrong before looking down at the caller ID, he knew as soon as he set foot I'm his home. Something was wrong, something was happening but he couldn't figure out what it was. He's normally restless, that was nothing new but tonight was much much worse. And now Pike is calling his cell phone at 2 in the morning...
"Blake, something's happened, I think I need you to come in and finish up some rounds for me."
"Sir? What happened?" Immediately Bellamy sits up, his heart pounding in his chest.
"It's an inmate. They tried to take their life tonight." There was no need for a pike to utter a name, the heavy feeling deep within his gut already suspected who the prisoner was. It was no coincident this was all happening now, after their talk and after the conversation Belly had with his sister and Lincoln. Bellamy didn't believe in coincidences. Without so much as hesitating he stands from the couch and grabs the keys he tossed onto the table.
"I'm on my way."
Pike never responded to Bellamy's declaration. Instead he hung up the phone and waited for Bellamy to arrive. The drive to Arkadia Penitentiary never took more than 20 minutes, but with the hollow feeling deep within his chest, Bellamy arrived at the prison in less than 15. Upon his arrival Pike stood and walked him inside. Bellamy didn't even have to ask before his boss explained further. He never came outright with a name but confirming it was someone from solitary was all the confirmation Bellamy needed.
Pike led them straight to medical where a doctor was on sight. Nikko left the room and began shitting the door behind him, but not fast enough for Bellamy not to catch a glimpse of blonde lying still in the bed. Her arms were both wrapped on bright white gauze with leather straps tying her down to prevent her from escaping or doing any more harm than she's already done His stomach churned as his head spins. He suspected, was almost sure even, but seeing her lying in bed made everything all too real .
"She's stable right now, but there's no telling how she'll react when she wakes. I gave her a sedative to keep her unconscious for the night but the morning is a different story. We can't keep her drugged."
