Marinette wrapped her arms around Alya's neck, Alya's hands resting on her hips. The dance was tense at first, neither being particularly good at it, but it didn't take long to get used to the same repetitive moves. Nino was - as per habit - being a show-off with his stepbrother, Justin Extra. Justin didn't even go to the school but he was Nino's guest so he was allowed in.

When the song switched to Mozart, you knew all the mentally ill teenagers were dancing to the CupcakKe remix. Headmaster Damocles wasn't happy but with the majority of the teachers not being on duty, he was basically the only one to care. It was overall a good time. The punch wasn't spiked, the night was warm and dark with thousands of diamonds in the sky, and they were in the company of good friends.

It was a great night to be alive.

Until Alya went off to talk to Nino.

"You know," Marinette turned around. It was Lila. "She's only left because she's bored with you." Marinette scoffed at the brunette.

"Yeah, and you're a hippopotamus! Give me something new, Lie-la..." The girl only chuckled.

"Think about it, Marinette. She left you, her date, alone to go off with some boy that had a crush on her. And that she's still close to." Marinette shifted uncomfortably. In normal circumstances, this wouldn't make her upset. But knowing Alya was Nino's ex-girlfriend in her world made it...

Unsettling?

Lila was getting under her skin, as she always does! It was best to ignore her because she just craved attention! "Haha!" Was she... laughing? "You're ignoring me because you know I'm on to something! Face it, Marinette, Alya will never have an interest in you. She's only being with you out of pity because you're Ladybug."

Marinette flinched. How the hell does she know?

"Trust me, I have my ways of knowing. But don't worry," Lila walked knowingly towards the noirette, "your secret will die with me. I have no use for exposing your identity." She got uncomfortably close. "It'll burn in hell like the both of us." Marinette shoved the Italian girl back.

"Lila, this is a school dance and it is supposed to be a calm and happy night! I'm not letting you and your mind games get in my way of enjoying my evening with my girlfriend! Go mess with some other poor fool, just leave me alone!"

She smiled. "Okay then. See you later, m'ladybug." And without another word, she had walked off. Marinette looked around, searching for Alya. The fox hero was talking to Nino, pulling one euro out from behind his ear. His eyes lit up with stars as he jumped up and down, probably asking for her to do it again. Marinette couldn't help but feel upset with him. Just for talking to-

Jealousy.

"Aw, man! Stupid, Lila!" Marinette kicked a rock on the floor. She wanted to go over to Nino and push him away, call him a thief and kick his ass simply for talking to Alya. It wasn't healthy - she knew this - but it didn't stop the feelings. She attempted to repress her emotions. However, repression doesn't always come out well.

The dark-skinned man cackled in his temple. His assistant. Stood beside him, holding the Peacock Miraculous. She let out the breath she'd been holding as he examined the broach. "Excellent work, Megara. Marlena would be proud of your work." She winced, remembering her past lover. "Duusuu! Spread my feathers!"

It was vile. Pure evil.

White feathers made a crown around his head, reddish-purple moth wings made a mask over his eyes, he wore a white suit with a velvet tie and black moth buttons. His ears were extended to a point, almost as if he was an elf and his eyes... they were soulless. Someone who had lost their humanity. Someone who had nothing left that meant anything in their life, someone fueled by pure hatred and vengeance. Those red eyes would forever leave burning scars on Megara's soul.
