Waking Up

She shot up with a cold sweat. The girl looked around, but everything was normal. 'Okay, so Chat must've brought me back to my house...' And then it hit her. 'That's impossible! He doesn't know where Ladybug lives!'

"No, no, it was just a bad dream. All made up, none of it was real..." Tikki laid a hand on her shoulder.

"Mariette, are you okay?" Her racing heart started to slow down; she looked at the kwami.

"Y-yeah. I'm fine. Just a nightmare is all."

"Okay... Oh! You need to get going or you'll be late for class!"

"Gah!" she screeched. The brunette quickly got out of bed and started putting her clothes together. With her panic, she was able to get showered and dressed in five minutes, then on her way to school.

Alya opened her eyes. That was the first mistake. "AHHH!" she screamed. That was the second.

Someone knocked on the door in a matter of seconds. "Alya! Is everything alright?" It was a voice she hadn't heard since she was little. It was her mom's best friend, Megara DeVinich (pronounced De- Vinc because I said so).

"I'm okay, Aunt Meg!"

"While I'm flattered, Alya, you only call me Megara. That's the rule your father set."

'Father? What the hell does he have to do with this?'

"Sorry, aun-Megara." She looked around the bedroom she woke up in. It was a mix of browns, blacks, and oranges. Mostly darker colors. Her bedsheets were an orange that faded into white and the floor was white marble. There were loads of things in her room she didn't need. A basketball court, a personal library, an area for photography. She looked around to find her phone and nearly screamed when she found it. It was the most expensive phone out. Hell, not even out, the model of phone wasn't even released yet.

"It's fine. It's just a dream. All in my head. If I just smack myself, I'll wake up in my room." She smacked herself across the face. Hard. She felt the sting even seconds after the slap. And there was no doubt that it was gonna leave a mark. Her hands raised to her head, her elbows resting on her knees. "Thisisrealthisisrealthisisreal. How the hell is this real?"

Reluctantly, she unlocked her phone and looked at contacts.

Three things weren't settling right. Alya had only moved here a year ago. She had no childhood bestfriend, and she'd only met Nino that year. Then was Marinette. She had Marinette saved as 'Bestie' on her phone. Chloe was 'Mean Bee B!tch' and she wasn't dating Kagami. She barely even knew the girl!

"Alya! Get ready for school! It'll be starting in fifteen minutes!" Megara called. Alya bolted out of her bed and started getting ready for the day. Once she found out where her clothes were.

Marinette sprinted through the classroom door, not realizing she didn't realize she was five minutes early. Everyone was chatting happily, waiting for Mrs. Bustier.

"Finally, you're here, sis!" said a blonde model voice. Marinette looked over at the boy.

"A-Adrien! Hi!"

"Hey, you okay?" Her face got red out of embarrassment and her heart fluttered.

"Y-yeah! Just a weird dream. Adrien stood up and grabbed Marinette's arm and dragged her towards the seat she and Alya sat at. The two sat down next two each other, leaving a confused Marinette. " Do I normally sit by you?"

"Of course you do, silly," said a slightly bossy but soft voice. "Are you sure you're okay?" Chloe asked, genuine concern in her voice.

"Yeah. It was just that dream. It was very... life-like." This didn't feel right to Marinette at all. It was like waking up one day and your friends have turned against you but then your enemies suddenly like you. No... that's almost exactly what it is.

Alya walked into the classroom. She was confused, but then she saw Marinette motion up by Chloe. She inwardly groaned then walked over to Chloe, sitting down next to her. Chloe smiled kindly at her, then her eyes widened.

"Al, you have-" she pointed to Alya's cheek. "Pink lips. On your face." Alya took her sleeve and wiped her face. It was a long-sleeved, dark red, button-up shirt. And luckily, the lipstick didn't show.

"That was Kagami. She, uh, she walked me to school." Chloe nodded and Mrs. Bustier walked in the door. You could see a slight bump on her stomach.

"Alright class, settle down please-" and with that, she was cut off. Nino threw open the door. His hair was longer and slicked back. He wore light-blue skinny jeans and a blue, short-sleeved shirt with a black jacket (it had no sleeves so more of a vest). His shoes were extremely expensive basketball sneakers that looked like they were brand new.

"Oh, I forgot I had to share a class with these... extras." He then noticed Alya and winked. "Except for you Ally (All - e)!" He then walked to his seat which was next to Sabrina.

"This is one hell of a weird place," Alya muttered.

"Hmm?" Chloe asked, a confused expression on her face.

"Nothing..."

"As we were..." Mrs. Bustier said, her voice drowned out by the thoughts in Alya's head.

It was the last period and Marinette had a window seat. But Alya wasn't in her class. Usually, she was. Something seemed off about this. And it's not just the reversed roles in the world.

"Akuma Alert!" There was a loud noise throughout the school and purple lights flashed. "Everyone please report to the basement." Everyone stood up and headed out the door in an orderly fashion.

Once the akuma attacks became common, all schools in Paris were required to teach their students how to approach the situation and we're required to install an akuma security system. It was one of the first logical things Francios Dupont College had done.

As everyone left out the door, Marinette slipped away to the teacher's lounge. She twisted the handle with shaky hands and pushed the door open. Nobody was there.

"Tikki! Spots on!" The kwami smiled and Marinette transformed, her body covered but the magenta glittery clouds. The brunette then sprinted out the building, looking for an Akuma victim.

"Mr. Pidgeon," Ladybug muttered.

Something wasn't right. Chat Noir wasn't there. This world was messed up, but this was beyond odd. 'Your pocket...' said a mysterious whisper. She patted her front pockets.

Nothing.

Then both her back pockets.

Nothing.

Then it hit her.

She ran out of the basement, despite the professors calling her back. Chloe ran after her and followed the brunette up the steps.

"Al! Where are you going!"

"I- I'm looking for Mari!"

"I'll help you!"

"N-no! Stay downstairs, where you're safe." Alya turned around to go back up the step, but Chloe grabbed her sleeve.

"I'm not letting you go! You're my best friend and I worry for you!"

Alya yanked her arm away, feeling guilty for the concerned expression on Chloe's face. Then she ran. She never thought she could run that fast but when this realization had dawned on her that she knew she had to do something.

The stairs were easily scaled. The classroom wasn't far.

Five meters.

Four meters.

Eight feet.

Six.

Four.

Two.

An explosion, then darkness once more.
