It was a gunshot in the head.
I am now determined to kill Gary Cripson.
It just started out with a document being stolen. But it turned into a death.
As they use the big machine to lower the casket into the ground, I look around. Over a hundred military/Air Force friends are here.
I sit by the grave after everyone is long gone. I've been here since the funeral, just crying and.....thinking. Was it really worth it? To do all this over a stupid document. I remind myself how many people would be homeless if we didn't do this.
I feel a huge hand on my back and turn around to see Ashley, Julia, and Igor. "Ashley doesn't know if Gary killed him or not," Julia says quietly. I look at Ashley and grow frustrated. "Seriously? Yes he did! You don't even know what happened! You see your dad every day and he's always fine! You don't have to worry about him all the time while he's in a different country! I can't believe after all we've found out-" Igor places a hand on my shoulder. "Calm down. I know what you're going through but....." He stops there. I slow my breathing and feel better.
"I got a phone call from Gary after.... You know," I can't say it. I see Igor's face turn red. "That son of a-" he starts to say. He looks down at us. "Sorry," he says.
We're silent for a few minutes.
"Can you guys come to my house? I think we should give Gary a call. I also need to.....tell you something," Igor says, breaking the silence.
Remember when he said he wanted a house like Ashley's? I would too if I lived here. Let's just say it's a dump. Shutters are falling off the roof. There is literally graffiti on the right side of his garage door. And it's in one of the highest crime cities in the US. Detroit. The door is brown and swings open with the lightest push. At first, we didn't want to come with him, but we need to talk to Cripson. Maybe we'll get answers or something. We can't go back now anyways. It was an hour drive.
When I take my first step in, I smell a mixture of pot and stale beer. Julia gags and turns around. Ashley's face turns green like she's about to be sick. I feel the same way. He throws his jacket down and walks over to the phone. He grabs it and dials a number. He puts it on speaker and it rings. On the fourth ring, Cripson picks up. "Hey man," he says in his scary voice. Igor replies, "I'm gonna be strait forward. Did you kill that girl's father?" Cripson doesn't reply. "Huh? Did you?" Igor asks impatiently. "You know I would never kill no one," says Cripson. Wait? He didn't kill my dad? Who did then? "But I would pay some one to do it," he says. I can practically see him smirking on the other end. My hands clench into fists and I feel my face burn red. "Why would you do that?" Igor asks also angry. "These girls are smart. They were onto me. And I'm not an idiot, Igor. I know they're standing right there, listening to this whole conversation." My stomach drops. Julia's eyes widen. Ashley's mouth drops open. "What? H-h-how did you kn-kn-know?" Igor stutters. "I have eyes everywhere," he states simply. Then he hangs up.
