Hey bestieeesss <3

It's sk8's 1-year debut anniversary today, so I thought today was a good day to end this book, finally!

[Nvm, I looked it up. It was on January 10th, but whatever 💁🏻‍♀️]

I'm really sorry it took me so long to finish the extra scenes, but once I was back in school, I hit a huge writer's block. School is literally sucking out all of my life energy ToT

I had already written the end note previously, but since it's been half a year since then, I don't think it's super fitting anymore. I probably should have posted it back with the last chapter, but oh well ToT

I want to thank you all for reading to the end and for all of your continued support throughout the book. I think this was the story I had most fun writing so far, not only because the fandom is incredible, but because I had people to enjoy it with.

I want to specifically thank alexspotatoes ! Bestie, this was basically a collab without being a collab ToT
This fandom is what made us meet by chance, and you are one of my dearest, if not the dearest online friend! Having a small audience stretching over both of our accounts was such a fun experience and I cannot thank you enough for being my friend!! I love you so much bestie!! <333

While writing this rn, I'm contemplating whether I should include a part of my original (now cringey to read) author's note from half a year ago in which I explained some of my writing process and y'know, just a little bit of behind the scenes. I guess that could be helpful for other people interested in writing, so I'll include it here.

If that's not your cup of tea, this is my goodbye to you, thank you so much for reading!

First off, why did I end the story in the middle of the anime's timeline?
As mentioned in the author's note at the beginning of the book, this initially was supposed to be a short story since I have struggles staying invested in one project, so I didn't wanna drag it out to become anything too big.
Then it came to story planning and well...
This storyboard happened. Welcome to what the inside of my mind looks like apparently hahaha.

As you can see, it was longer than planned, but I decided to write what I had planned anyways. To prevent the story from dragging out, I decided to conclude the fanfiction conflict before the timeline would reach the anime conflict, so yeah, no kicking Adam's ass in the main part sadly.

I didn't wanna leave the rest of the anime untouched tho, so that was what the extras were for.

Also, the main part was originally going to be 8 chapters long, but as you probably can tell, I had to split one chapter and then I just took scenes that were planned for the extras to through together a 10th chapter 'cause that's just a nicer number okay! But then the rest stretched out as well and now were at 12.

Regarding the reader insert, some decisions were made. I have to say, I'm dummy unathletic, so yeah, might be a realistic pov idk lol. But that was not the reason I made the reader a non-skater. I've been told *cough* by someone who read every sk8 fanfic out there *cough* that no one had written a non-skater (Y/N) yet, so I wanted to fill in that niche.

It wasn't easy since skating is the whole point of the anime and Langa's character is about sharing his passion with others, so I get why people never did a non-skater (Y/N). That's just plain stupid. But here I am, pursuing that stupidly complicated concept and I hope I made the best of it.

I've also been told that no (Y/N) in other Langa fanfics is also from Canada yet, so here we are.

(TYSM FOR YOUR INPUT ON THIS, BESTIE. OR ELSE I WOULD HAVE PROBABLY ENDED UP MAKING HER REKI'S SISTER WHICH IS NOT THE EPITOME OF ORIGINAL BAHAHAHA)

I tried to give her own goals, flaws, talents, personality, habits and so on, because I literally have a burning passion for shallow female characters whose only goal is to pursue a guy. Tho the concept was literally that she leaves everything behind to follow her love interest to Japan, which really doesn't scream 'independent strong female character', so I tried making it work with external factors. Like how the moms didn't want them to separate, which was literally one of my favorite parts to write. I love mother's in fanfiction lmao

Something I'm proud of is that we actually got a good insight of (Y/N)'s homelife and her family. I think that really showed my progress to me since the MC's family get ignored most of the time a lot (by me).

Another thing is I tend to want to make the MC interact with the love interest too much, so I hope I did a decent job balancing it and exploring her relationships to other characters as well. I literally love her relationship with Miya.

Now, regarding the symbolisms, metaphors, subplots etc.

I'm literally so proud, you guys. We have the one with the seasons: Langa representing winter and (Y/N) representing spring, because "spring follows after winter" which has a double meaning as you might have guessed, because (Y/N) follows Langa to Japan. It made a lot of sense to me idk lol

A similar concept is also used in the book title and chapter titles. (Y/N) "chases the snow"- Langa. All the chapter titles are winter/ temperature themes to imply the temperature change from winter to spring. They also correlate to the individual chapters somehow, but I didn't put that much thought in it either lmao. When I ended up with 12 chapters I was actually contemplating whether I should change the chapter titles to the months, but I decided against that.

Then we have the yeti subplot. This was a council decision. (The council definitely has more than two people, what are you talking about)
I was contemplating whether I wanted to use the spot of (Y/N)'s favorite series as a reference to another real franchise, a story about skaters or a story about Langa's yeti. Then I was unsure whether I'd use it as a comedy element or a correlation to their relationship, but you see what I chose lol

I think this covers everything I wanted to talk about. Again, thank you all so much for reading the story, voting, commenting and so on. I love you all. Bye~
