Chapter Ten

I'm not joking when I say that while Mr. Wells, the math teacher, talked about quadratic programming my eyes were fixated in the board, yet my mind was a bundle of numbers and variables all floating around, as my mouth hung open. Open as in hanging down.

I stopped following after "Let's look at the first Example..."

"Breathe Bella, just stay focused." Angelina whispered to my side.

A couple of minutes later the numbers floating in my head disappeared. Now, there was an immense blank.

"I'll give you the rest of the hour to work on your classwork." He said before going back to his computer.

As I was expecting Angelina to be working on the problems, it was a big surprise for me to find her drawing instead.

"Hum, what are you doing?" I tilted my head to the side in an attempt to discover the shape of her drawing,

"I was reading those articles on my mom's magazine. It said that there are many types of bodies, so I am trying to find which one I am."

"Oh, so that's your shape?" I asked studying her paper.

She nodded. "I know right? I can't find it either!"

I laughed lightly as I realized that her sketch looked awfully deformed. It was wide at the bottom and super skinny at the top, but that was an exaggeration of her body. I guess I'm not the only one with body issues.

"So, ready to tell me what resulted out of Percy's magnificent, romantic and extremely thoughtful attempt of reconciliation? " I asked with a high level of hopefulness in my voice.

She rolled her eyes. "As if I wouldn't figure out it was your idea. Well, I did forgive him but we are not together. He needs to work harder and prove to me that he loves me for who I am. It takes time to heal."

I smiled with pride. "How do you always know what is the right think to do? To be honest, I admire how you managed the situation. It's almost as if wisdom runs through your veins, instead of blood."

"Well, If I do say so myself, I am kind of wise about these things." She asserted apprehensively.

Our little celebration was interfered by the teacher, who fixed his glasses as he stood before us. "Ladies, would any of you explain to me what is this?" He pointed at the drawing on Angelina's paper.

"Hum, it's a tree." She said calmly rolling the paper upside down.

"Maybe you should start working on your assignment. It's due by the end of the hour." He instructed before proceeding to check on the rest of the students.

I gazed at Angelina displaying disbelief all over my face. "A tree? Seriously?"

She waved it off. "It was the best I could come up with."

"Even a pear would have made more sense." I chuckled.

"Gosh, that's it! I am a pear." She clapped frantically.

The bell rang signaling everybody that class was over. Because we had lunch, we took our time in packing the stuff in our backpack.

"Angelina, Bella! I wanted to talk to you guys." Harry exclaimed approaching our desks. "There is a party at my house tonight, you and your friends are welcome to come."

"Alright, thanks," Angelina smiled and bobbed. "We'll think about it."

He nodded and left. "So not going." I asserted. I'm not even allowed to go out on weekdays and besides, I don't really enjoy parties hosted by Harry. They could get too wild.
