Part 8

Your POV

The next day, you finish up at the office quickly and are about to leave when your phone rings showing just a number.

"Hello?"
"Hi, it's Alex's mom! If you want a ride, I'm outside the office now!"
"Oh, good timing I'm heading out now, see you in a minute!"

You quickly run out checking Alex isn't around and jump in his moms car and head to their house.

You awkwardly sit in the kitchen chatting to his mom while she runs around making the food. You offer to help multiple times but she declines each time, so you literally feel like a spare part sat watching her.

She finishes up and starts cleaning the kitchen while the pizzas are cooking.
"Right, I'm helping you now! I'm done sitting around watching!" You quickly get up to help and she laughs at you shaking her head.
"Girl, sit down! You're a guest!" She shouts and you look at her with a raised brow and shake your head.
"Well, thank you." She says finally giving in to you, you turn away and smile.

Before long, you've both managed to clean up and sit down at the table chatting and laughing until Alex walks into the kitchen and just stares at you both.
"Oh, we didn't hear you come in!" His mom shouts looking at him.
"What the hell are you doing here?" He shouts looking at you, totally ignoring his mom.
"Alex!" His mom shouts, "way to make her feel welcome!" She shouts again at him, you don't really know whether to react to Alex's comment or laugh at his moms reaction to his comment.

"Sorry (Y/N), I just wasn't expecting to come home to you sat with my mom." He says awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck. You smile at him and nod awkwardly and he slowly walks up and sits beside you.

"But seriously, why are you here?" He asks again, this time not sounding as abrupt.
You look at his mom and he looks at her too and pulls a face at her. You pretend you didn't see him pull a face and his mom checks on the pizzas.
"It won't be long! I'm just going to change into comfy clothes if you don't mind?" His mom looks at you and you smile,
"Not at all, I would too if I had some!" You say and she laughs leaving the kitchen.

You turn your attention to Alex, who seems to be avoiding eye contact with you.
"What was that face for, the face you just pulled at your mom? And why did you sound so abrupt when you walked in? Have I done something wrong?" You ask him looking at him with furrowed brows.

He shakes his head and turns to you slowly.
"I'm sorry. I-I just..." you see how awkward he goes after you ask this and he can't seem to get his words out.
"It's nothing, really." He finally says and you shake your head.
"Your mom is worried about you Alex. And so am I!" You shout at him, not too loud, but loud enough for him to shush you.

"Alex, your mom knows you're going somewhere through the night. Where do you keep going?" You ask him and he just looks deep into your eyes.
"Tell me!" You say with a stern voice, he shakes his head and looks away just as his mom walks back in.

You all sit and eat, Alex barely talks or even touches his food and you head home after speaking to his mom.
"Ring me if you hear him leave through the night! I'll figure it all out!" You say to his mom when you hug her thanking her for the meal and leave.

You get home and Will is already at your place, he looks at you and tilts his head.
"Everything ok babe?" He asks and you nod a little before he walks up to you and hugs you.
"Don't lie to me." He whispers down your ear and pulls back holding your shoulders.

"It's Alex, his mom said he keeps taking off through the night, I questioned him about it when she wasn't there and he didn't tell me. So I might be going out through the night if she gets in touch." You say back to him and he nods,
"We!" He shouts adding on to what you said and smiles.
"He's my best friend, (Y/N). I'm coming too!" He says and you nod back to him and smile.

Before long, you both head off to bed and go to sleep. You aren't surprised when you wake up to your phone ringing.

"He's leaving the house." Alex's mom whispers down the phone.

You and Will get up and head out in his GTR to find Alex. Will drives and you get your phone out, remembering you have a tracker for him from when you were both together.

You find his car after he stops off to get a coffee and then he stops at someone's house and a girl answers the door letting him in.
"Surely he doesn't come to her house most nights!" Will says as though he knows something.
"Do you know her?" You ask in shock.
"Yeah! She's an old friend of ours, her boyfriend is an ass! That's why I don't understand why he's here." He says and looks at you scratching his head.

After around 10 minutes, the door opens right as a car pulls up and someone gets out.
"That's her boyfriend." Will says, not keeping his eye off them.
Next thing, he's marching up to Alex grabbing him and shouting. You grab the handle about to get out the car and Will grabs your arm pulling you.
"If he lays a finger on Alex, I'm going over!" You shout at Will, he doesn't say anything as you both watch from a distance.

You both watch as the guy pushes Alex to the ground and starts punching him, you both quickly get out the car and run over at the same time.
"Get off him!" You shout running over and pushing him off Alex. He turns to look at you and gives you a dirty look and then looks at Will and laughs.
"Should've known you'd know about this!" He says marching up to Will.

"It's not what it looks like! How many times do you need to be told! I've been coming here to use your racing set up and talk to your dad... you hate me, I hate you, you'd never agree to this, but your girlfriend and your dad did! He knows a thing or two about racing, I wanted help, I wanted tips and he was willing to help me!" Alex shouts standing up between him and Will.
He doesn't say anything back to Alex besides "get out of here!" And pushes him again.

You all head over to Alex's truck after he storms off, wiping the blood from his nose.
"I'll go wait in the car..." Will says awkwardly and walks off to his car.

You look at Alex after he gets in his truck with your arms crossed leaning against his door.
"Are you stalking me?" He asks and you laugh,
"Aren't you glad? Who knows how you'd have ended up if we weren't here!" You shout at him and this keeps him quiet.
"Your mom was worried about you and so was I, Alex!" You shout at him and he rolls his eyes.

You notice his nose start bleeding some more and you pass him a tissue from your pocket, he slowly takes it from you and holds his nose.
"Thanks. You shouldn't be worried about me though." He says without looking at you.
You look over to the house and see her boyfriend watching you.
"Give me a minute, I'm just gonna go see Will. Don't move!" You say pointing your finger in Alex's face before running over to Will's car.

"I'm gonna drive Alex back if he lets me, his nose is bleeding still and I don't trust that guy..." you say pointing to the house, Will nods.
"I'll follow behind you, bring him to yours?" He says and you nod before heading back over to Alex's truck.

"Move over, I'm driving!" You shout at Alex.
"What? No!" He shouts back looking at you in disgust.
"No arguing! Move, now!" You shout again, he sighs and gets out moving around to the passenger side.
"Good boy." You whisper and wink at him.
"You're staying at my place!" You shout again before setting off with Will behind you.

"Do me a favour?" You ask him nicely and he looks at you.
"Let your mom know you're with me and Will, please." You say and he sighs again and gets his phone out, to your surprise he actually calls his mom and puts her on loud speaker.

"Hey mom, I'm with (Y/N) and Will. I'm staying with them tonight." He says unenthusiastically, you laugh at him and says hello to his mom and talk for a bit before hanging up and saying night.
"She seems so happy when she talks to you." Alex says smiling as you start pulling up at your place.
"Really?" You ask quite shocked and he nods and smiles.

You all go inside and get ready for bed. You give Alex a blanket and he thanks you and Will, you hold his face and check it, noticing a bruise forming beside his eye and he winces at your touch. You kiss his head before stepping back biting your lip, he rolls his eyes and hides his face under the blanket and you walk away laughing.
"Some things never change. Night Alex, love ya!" You say before going into your bedroom.
