Sans walked around the house, deep in thought. "What IS he doing?" You asked Papyrus. "LOOKING FOR WEAKPOINTS. PLACES YOU COULD HIDE OR ESCAPE THE WRATH OF OUR DON. HIS HANDS ARE NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO ESCAPE IF HE HAS WHAT HE WANTS, AND ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO ESCAPE WHEN HE DOESN'T." Papyrus walked over to the right wall. "BROTHER." Sans padded over and his eyes lit up as he crouched. "it's painted over. great find pap!" You walked over, surprised. "Wait what?!" How did you not know? "depending on how big this crawlspace is..." Sans started as he used his claw to break the paint seal. He jabbed a claw in the 'door' and pulled it open, poking his skull inside. "You could hide here until he either reclaims us or we chase him out. which reminds me, pap i still need to teach you to use a gun." Papyrus tail started to wag. "OH YES PLEASE! I WISH TO HELP!" Papyrus doesn't know how to use a gun? "Wait Sans, is it big enough?" He backed out of the space and looked at you. "looks that way. the only way to know for certain is if you check it out yourself. as much as i wanna stick around, pap and i got a base to complete." Sans and Papyrus went to the door, putting on their hats and coats. "... i'll be back." You expected as much. He just couldn't stay away and you, as much as you hated to admit it, you were curious about the skeleton brothers.

After washing up, finding out you did conveniently fit in that hole in the wall, and closing the 'door' you found yourself going downstairs to see the boy's base. You weren't expecting it to be so clean. How and when did they install bars on the windows?! And were those machine guns?! "eye through the scope, yeah- just like that. have the butte just a bit higher, if you were to fire with it that low, you'd dislocate your scapula or break your clavicle. remember that magic can assist. focus and strengthen your sight." Sans tail wagged. "yes! just like that! last but not least, never have your phalange on the trigger unless you're gonna take the shot. it could make or break lives." Papyrus lowered what looked like a rifle. "I UNDERSTAND BROTHER." Papyrus nodded. "i'm proud of you bro. wanna try another gun? we got a shotgun and a tommy gun as well." Papyrus shook his head. "I WISH TO PRACTICE MORE WITH THIS RIFLE." It was kind of sweet in a way, watching Sans teach Papyrus. You could tell they were extremely close as brothers.

Sans turned to you. "gonna stand there forever or are ya gonna come in?" He asked. You squeaked and stepped in. "I'm sorry- don't-" He stopped you before you could continue your apologies. "it's fine. you're welcome down here. i just suggest caution for obvious reasons." He looked around. "want anything?" You shook your head. "I suppose I came down here to learn more about you gentlemen and your culture." Sans blinked, startled and his grin widened. "warming up to us? 'bout time." He teased. "Oh hush! I'm just curious about your 'mafia' how is it a term for family? Was it always like this with the crime and such?" The boys shared an uneasy glance. "mafia is an ancient skeleton term for family, yes."
"AND NO, IT WASN'T ALWAYS THIS WAY. OUR CRIMES STARTED SIX YEARS AGO.." You tilted your head. "Six years..?" Sans nodded. "when the head of the family, the don, dies, the oldest skeleton takes his place." He said quietly.⛓️⛓️⛓️
"I apologize for my reaction on our first meeting." You said, deciding that to press any further on that subject was rocky ground. "Can we maybe... start again? I will NOT be your mate, but friends... I think I could live with that." Papyrus smiled. "IT IS QUITE ALRIGHT. WE UNDERSTAND WHY YOU REACTED IN SUCH A WAY. IT IS A LOT TO TAKE IN AT ONCE." He then proceeded to leave you and Sans alone so he could 'practice'... great. "that boy." Sans chuckled and held his hand out. "heya, i'm sans. comic sans gaster." You blinked and took his hand. "[Y/N]. [Y/N] [L/N]." He brought your hand to his teeth and you fought the urge to pull away. He pressed his teeth to your hand then let go. "the pleasure is mine." You frowned. "You did hear me say that I won't be your mate, right?"
"don't mean i can't play the part of the gentleman." He had you there. "I have a question, please don't be offended." He tilted his skull curiously.⛓️⛓️⛓️
When Papyrus came back in, Sans was sulking behind the counter and [Y/N] looked apologetic. "WHAT HAPPENED HERE?" Sans flinched. "I accidentally treaded on a sore subject for Sans. [Y/N] replied. "SORE SUBJECT? WHAT SORT OF SUBJECT?" She fidgited a little. "I asked... why he was so short compared to you and your Don." Sans whined. "it's not my fault i got the short end of the stick... i don't know why i'm so small.." Papyrus couldn't help but laugh, making Sans whine more. "NYEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH! THAT'S ALL?" [Y/N] was a bit thrown off. "What do you mean that's all? Is it not a sensitive subject?" Papyrus waved. "USUALLY NOT REALLY. BUT SEEING AS IT CAME FROM YOU..." Papyrus started laughing again. "Oh.. right. Hey I'm sorry Sans, I won't bring it up again." She apologized. "HE CAN'T HOLD A GRUDGE... AT LEAST NOT AGAINST YOU ANYWAY. HE'LL BE FINE IN A FEW HOURS. WHY DON'T YOU TELL ME ABOUT YOUR CULTURE AND I'LL TELL YOU ABOUT MINE?" Pap suggested. [Y/N] agreed, deciding to give Sans time like Papyrus suggested. Sans watched out of the corner of his eye as the pair went into the office/bedroom to give him space. He couldn't help but smile.
