Sans and [Y/N] weren't quite expecting for Papyrus to kick them out while he 'cleaned up' so now they stood on the bustling streets of the city, unsure of what to do. "wanna go to the park or something?" Sans asked awkwardly, distracting himself from said awkwardness by readjusting his fedora. "... yeah. We need to talk anyway. Anywhere private would do. Sans offered his arm to her, which she quickly declined, and they started walking. "I already told you no, Sans." He grunted. "i was only gonna show ya a shortcut. i had a private place in mind." She blinked. "You know the shortcuts of the city? You know that are dangerous, right?" Sans scratched his cheek with a phalange. "well... kinda. it's not quite what you're thinking. trust me and i'll explain." [Y/N] crossed her arms. "Well then explain." Sans rolled his eyelights. "i meant once we get there." He held a and out to her. Ever so reluctantly, she took it, only for Sans to pull her close and hug her as they disappeared off the street in a flash of yellow. [Y/N] clung tight to him, even after they made it to their destination.

"that was magic." Sans murmured into her hair. "we used to use it all the time in the days of don fraktur. when the sickness started to consume our mafia and we moved from mexico to north america, it was thought that our use of magic was why the sickness started, and don caslon banned it. we weren't supposed to learn magic, but don gaster showed me that little trick when i was a pup, a long with a couple other things." [Y/N] skittered back upon realizing the position she'd put herself in. He didn't let her go to far though, they were on a roof, after all. She noticed, gasping at the sight. The sun was finishing up in rising. Sans grinned and took a seat on her apartments roof, his tail curling around his paws. "Your species originated in Mexico?" She asked, sitting a respectful distance from a slightly disappointed Sans. "mmhm. so i was told. i was born in shade city, a few hours east of here."
"And that insane monster that destroyed my house. He taught you that... shortcut." Sans puffed out a sigh.⛓️⛓️⛓️
"ya gotta understand, we weren't always... like this. i didn't always have to wear these." You watched Sans absent-mindedly grab the loop around his neck. "the story is a long one, starting with the sickness that killed off most of our mafia." You noticed the distant look in his eyelights. "You don't have to tell me.." He shook his head. "i need to." He stated. "this sickness was ferality, the very sickness that i have, more on that later. as i said earlier, don caslon moved what remained of our mafia up here for a fresh start. i was never told how he died, but apparently it was bad enough for my father to move us among the other monster species in shade city. due to our ties with humans in the past, many monsters didn't take kindly to us, so our mafia was quick to learn how to use weapons. it also gave my dad the job as ambassador between your city and ours. our father was a good skeleton, and didn't deserve to die the way he had..." Sans shook his head. "more on that later. for now, i'll get into what happened to us."

"there was no mistake that our mom was the rock that held us all together. we all loved her and obeyed her. one could argue that she was the real don." A gentle, loving smile appeared on Sans face and you couldn't help but smile as well, you'd never seen that look yet. "wingdings was always working to appease our parents as the next don. he was a good big brother. he was so excited when he could go out with dad..." The smile disappeared suddenly, replaced with a depression and guilt that was also new to you. "a monster broke in while dad and wingdings was gone, he killed our mom and i-" Sans took a shuttering breath. "i killed him. i couldn't... i couldn't control my actions. i knew something was wrong.. dad and wingdings were devastated, we all were, but i was scared too. scared that one of them would be next. so i told dad. i told wingdings. then one day... i didn't 'wake up'. the sickness, the ferality, it had consumed me as it had the mafia in mexico." You gasped. You should've seen that coming, but you hadn't put two and two together.

"with me and mom gone, relations between my dad and wingdings," You just now realized that he'd been calling Don Gaster Wingdings, "were getting worse. they started to neglect papyrus and i, so he took full responsibility of me. with how young and non-threatening he was, i kinda stopped trying to attack him. ferality is completely fear based. it heightens your instincts and preceives everything that moves as a threat, thus making the affected monster act aggressive towards it and eliminate it. papyrus wasn't a threat though, so my instincts told me to protect instead." Sans chuckled grimly. "i don't know when or why the don decided to weaponize me, but he gave papyrus these chains to suppress the sickness and from there, i became the new mediator of the house. i failed..." Sans took off his hat, rubbing his skull. "the don became so obsessed with his 'vision of the future', that he killed our father and threatened to kill papyrus too, if i didn't obey his commands. so we took over shade city... then we took over ebbot." You put a hand on his arm. He'd been through so much and spilled all of it. It was only fair for you to do the same.

"I can't say my life was that bad, but I've had my fair share of darkness as well... when I was a girl, I didn't have any friends. I was... not exactly rich, nor was I poor. Because of that, I didn't fit in.." Sans looked at [Y/N], a bit startled that she was willing to share herself. "Savanah was the worst, she despised me for whatever reason. Especially since we were in such a similar position. I suppose it was because she too, was being bullied and lashed out at me because of it." Sans suppressed a protective growl. "When I moved on to secondary school, my parents got into a car crash. It... was fatal.." Sans felt the numbing wave of grief within her soul. He desperately wanted to reach out and smother her in his affection. "A man by the name of Kane Carron took me under his wing..." She swallowed and Sans bristled at the shift in her mood. A bitter and fearful feeling rose in her soul. "I thought he would be my salvation. I was wrong." The growl Sans tried to keep back escaped and [Y/N] stopped. "I'm ok now, Sans.." She promised. "i think... that we need a night on the town." Sans decided.
