Scaramouche had left the nation after the Tsaritsa's messenger had brought news that he was to return to Snezhnaya for orders. The man did not bother to say farewell as he swiftly left-though his eyes did glaze over to Y/n, who was busy conversing with Zhongli and the others. He didn't think much of it but realized how a part of him hesitated when stepping out of Liuli Pavillion.

It was the first time he was going to separate from her yet she didn't seem to care at all. The thought made his chest tighten in an all too familiar feeling. It was the same sentiment when he had been abandoned and uncared for.

This time, he felt like he had no value or significance in Y/n's life.

The next morning Y/n, Zhongli, Childe, and La Signora had gathered around a wooden table in Northland Bank. The room they settled in was dark and silent, away from the business chatter downstairs. She was told that it was a private room for the Harbingers to collect the debt from clients.

The faint stench of dried blood was enough to tell what the room was used for. She wondered how many victims had sat in her seat and left mentally and physically broken.

"Now then, let's get down to business," Tartaglia slapped three piles of cards down at the table. Y/n tensed at the sharp sound and slid a pile. She steeled her gaze and observed that none of them had flipped their cards face up so she left them there.

What kind of game only required three cards per player?

"Plain poker cards?" she raised a brow. "Not even Uno?"

Her attempt at lightening the mood failed as the room fell in silence once again. She was starting to think that the card game was a serious thing among the Fatui and she only made a fool of herself by joking around with references that the people of Tevyat clearly didn't understand.

Tartaglia's eyes were lifeless under the sunlight but in the darkness, not even his cheery smile could make it brighter. He proceeded to stare at the cards before him intensely as the others watched. Lifting the first card to his left, he spoke, "Ace of Hearts." He continued to lift the cards. "Nine of Spades and...Seven of Diamonds."

"Hmph, the Nine of Spades never fails to make its comeback," Signora sang. "But what is this we have? Ace of Hearts?" She eyed Zhongli, who merely sipped from his teacup before his eyes landed on Y/n.

"Seven of Diamonds..." Tartaglia murmured. "Is this foreshadowing?"

"Why is he looking at the card so intensely? Is he gonna make out with it?" Y/n thought aloud. La Signora chuckled at her reaction before explaining.
