Part 19: New Years

Happy (Belated) New Year Everyone!! May this be the best year yet!!

I glance at the clock, 11:58. Almost a New Year! Surprisingly I wasn't asked to speak or join some crazy party this year (wich I am very thankful for) so instand I get the honor of staying in my own home.

I pick up the two bottles and head over to where Emika is sitting outside on the balcony.

We are currently on the highest floor of headquarters. Otherwise knows as my office!

I slip out the door before tapping her on the shoulder and handing her the bottle with a grin.

We clink the glasses together and take a swig of the bubbly liquid.

I swallow the sweet substance and send Emi a wink.

A soft blush graces her beautiful cheeks. God, I know I've probably said this before but I am going to say it again.

Emika Jane Chen. Is beautiful. Not only on the outside but on the inside too.

You can see it in the way she greets others in the morning. Just a radiant smile and an energetic good morning hug.

You can see it in the way she talks to little kids. Crouching down to their level and never making them feel stupid or less then they really are.

You can see it in the way she helps others. Always the first to pick up the box or hold the door. Never complains either, she does it with a smile. Every. Single. Time.

You can see it just through her eyes. They way they sparkle and shine. Only filled with love and kindness.

You can see it in her laughs, and her light hearted jokes, never failing to lighten the mood and bring a smile to those around her.

It's nearly impossible to hate her because you just can't. I mean yes, she is human and yes, she makes mistakes.

But she is also Emika Jane Chen.

The selfless, kind hearted, wonderful girl that we all know.

And as for me...Love.

At first it was gradual. A small blush here and a second thought there.

But then it hit me.

Every waking and sleeping moment that girl was on my mind. Her witty remarks and that smile that never failed to brighten and cast a wonderful glow on even the darkest of rooms.

As it turns out, she thought the same with me.

Why?

I've got no clue. But apparently she does, because one day we kissed.

Her in my sweater and me...Well...Watching the fireworks explode as I finally kiss the girl of my dreams.

I feel a tug on my hoodie sleeve.

I look down.

"What are you thinking about?"

Her voice is soft and sweet. I smile as I pull her closer.

"How I'm so lucky to have you...I don't know why you stumbled into my life and I don't know why the gods above decided I was the best for you because trust me Emika Jane Chen...You deserve so much more..."

"But trust me when I say...I couldn't be happier that you did."

I bring my hand up to her neck and pull her close.

Our lips come together, and I would be lying if I told you we separated anytime soon ;)

I know it was short and New Years was a couple days ago buuuuut I figured I would still throw it out there!

I hope you all have had a wonderful start to your New Year and that 2022 is much MUCH better then 2020 and 2021 🤍
